Today I am both honored and excited to share a very special organization with you that gives hope and life to women in Uganda. The organization is called 31 Bits.
“31 Bits is an organization working with women in Northern Uganda who were displaced by the war and have been living in poverty. We buy their jewelry (made with beads from recycled paper) at fair trade prices on a monthly basis and provide them with opportunities for literacy education, finance training, and business training. We currently have 60 women in our program, who are now able to send their kids to school, feed their families, and provide health care. 31 Bits has joined a movement of businesses that are out to transform the lives of both the producer and consumer. 31 Bit’s vision is to empower women to become independent and successful.”
Not only is 31 Bits empowering women, but they are also bringing beautiful jewelry to the world and the trend is catching like wildfire. They’ve been recently written about in multiple publications including FOAM surf magazine and in People magazine’s Style Watch for the sandal they collaborated on with Reef (it’s called the “Ugandal”). Soon they will also be launching their “Elasticity Campaign” (this month) with Tenley Molzahn from the TV show “The Bachelorette”.
Your posts are always so relevant and insightful. This was really wonderful-what these women are doing is simply astounding. I may have to rush over to the site and pick up something asap!
Your blog is always so inspirational to me, and while I don’t always comment, I just wanted to let you know how much of a wonderful person I think you are. You’re inspiring, beautiful, and genuine-I could listen to your thoughts all day!
It would mean the world and a star to me if you could take some time to check out my blog, also. I’m hosting a giveaway at the moment, and you are MORE than welcome to enter!
Please and thankyou!
Much Love darling,
