my weekend was lame. yes. i just said lame.

My weekend was lame.
{Yes.  I know no one really says lame anymore. Do I care? Nope!}

The reason for it’s lameness was that I was sick.
Reason: I work with little petri dishes of germs, i.e. children.

Did you know that this is what a child’s hand looks like?

True story.
Anyway.  My weekend was spent feeling like I got hit by a truck.  Horrible congestion, faucet-like nose, splitting headache and terrible body aches.  The only time I left the house was to go to a training for work on Saturday morning.  We learned about positive behavioral interventions for the classroom.  One of which was “Tucker Turtle”.  We’re supposed to use it to get the kids to cool down when they’re upset and essentially “tuck inside” their shell to calm down before finding a solution.  I’m sure the kids will love it and it will be very effective, but I’m not gonna lie…I’m not keen on puppets.  This is him.  Marley tried to eat him when I brought him home.  I don’t blame her.

The only other time I left the house was to see a movie with my parents.  They chose it and it was quite possibly the worst movie I’ve ever seen in my entire life.  Seriously.  Don’t see it.  EVER.
My other weekend happenings were quite dull
and included:

*Staying in bed until 1:00.

*Staying in pajamas ALL day.

*Watching an inordinate amount of TV including:

-3 episodes of The Buried Life
-2 episodes of World of Jenks
-2 episodes of 16 and Pregnant
-3 episodes of Too Fat For 15
  -Some football with Craig

I did discover the lovely VV Brown while watching World of Jenks though, so the weekend wasn’t a total wash :).  I love her style and she is incredibly charming with the loveliest accent and voice.

Tell me about your weekend!
I need some excitement after all the dullness around here :).

  2. Fun part…I had never heard of this movie, so good to know. 😉 Happy Monday. xoxo

  3. faucet like nose sounds so familiar!! 🙁 Hope you are better today!
    ps: I say lame!

  4. Hello!
I’m sorry that your feeling sick, hope you get better soon! I hate how kids are so willing to share their icky germs, but hardly anything else (:

I love Tucker Turtle! (and all that positive behavior stuff, too). Did you guys get a Tucker Turtle book too? Those things are the best! I hope it works with your students!

  5. me too!
I was such a sickling all weekend.
    soy sauce-tofu and blog-browsing.
    woo-hoo!

    are you feeling better now?
    hopefully it goes away 🙂

  6. I recently discovered (and blogged about!) vv brown. Listen to Shark in the Water.. it’s the best!

  7. Ugh Skyline looked like a horrible movie, thanks for the warning!

Sorry you’re sick, feel better soon!

  8. Hope you start feeling better! 🙂

  9. Lauren,

I want an official Tucker the Turtle! We just have the flash card story and I never can seem to have the pictures in the right order when I go to read it. I hope you are feeling better soon so you can enjoy your favorite holiday. Just a tid bit of info: when you have worked with kids as long as I have you will only get sick about once during the fall and winter season. Happy Thanksgiving!

  10. I say lame… all the time. (Lame, right?) Hope you’re feeling better! Hang in there, it’s almost Turkey Day 🙂

  11. Ugh, I was super sick this weekend, too. Josh and I hibernated for most of it, but on Sunday afternoon I had to go to a little craft show at someone’s house to sell my scarves. That turned out to be pretty fun, because I got to drink lots of wine and make lots of money!

  12. …one thing I don’t miss about working with kids! I was constantly sick the first year I worked full time at a school! I feel for you! Oh lame is the cool thing to say, where have you been? I say it at least twice a day! 🙂

  13. Feel better soon!

  14. Feel better sweetness!!! Sending you a hug!! xo

  15. Your weekend was more eventful than mine! I was sick too… and I didn’t leave the house except to pick up a book from the library. 🙁 Still sick… at least I can work from home!

  16. Love that hand picture!! Hope you feel better
    xoxo

  17. So sorry your weekend was marked with illness. Being sick is the worst! I hope you get to feeling better this week, friend.

My weekend wasn’t overly exciting. Just a lot of eating, resting and reading – my favorite activities : )

Hope to see you and the hubs soon ; )

  18. Aw, that was me last weekend, so I can certainly relate. That’s one of the pitfalls of working with kids, I guess, as I was just commenting on Mara’s blog. Hope you are feeling better!

  19. Oh I always say Lame! 🙂 My weekend was nice, but fairly un-eventful! I hope you are feeling better, Lauren!!

  20. Haha, don’t worry about using the word ‘lame’, I use it all the time! 🙂 I’m sorry you were sick. Sounds like you got a healthy dose of reality TV though! Sometimes it just feels good to watch some bad reality. My weekend included a lot of Christmas decorating and some shopping.

  21. Wow that sucks. I know what you mean – I have two little ones in day care, and we are all sick all. the. time. Like right now, for me. Bleh. Hope we both feel better soon!

  22. Bummer, I hope you’re feeling better! Our weekend was pretty uneventful as well. We saw the new Harry Potter movie, watched the Oregon State game, and played board games. Oh, and my dogs would have totally wanted to eat that turtle, too.

  23. Sounds like MTV was on your TV. Oh man, their shows are such junk reality most of the time, but I can’t help watching. I do enjoy world of jenks and buried life though. I was bummed I fell asleep during the world of jenks season finale.
