this weekend was kind of awesome.

This weekend was kind of awesome.
Here’s why….
I ate delicious food.  Hung out with good friends. And hung out with Grace Bonney.  Yes.  That Grace Bonney (of Design*Sponge).  But, more on that later.  Let’s start from the beginning….

I had Friday off.
Spent it yard-sale-ing with my mom and aunt.  Scored some good swag.  Yes.  I know I just said swag.  I know it’s not cool and I’m not sure why I used it, but I’m just gonna go with it.

Later I had dinner with my mother-in-law at Lovely’s Fifty-Fifty

SO good!  We had salads and shared a pizza: green garlic + asparagus + ricotta + fontina.  YUM!!  AND….salted caramel and mint stracciatella ice cream for dessert.

Saturday I….
Styled a bunch of sets for the Ace Summer School I mentioned last week.  Lisa Warninger taught a fabulous photography class and after the lecture portion, the students got to shoot around – taking photos of the styled sets and of our lovely model Meredith whom I also styled.  (P.S. Please note that my iPhone photos do not do either the sets or the model true justice – especially Meredith.  She looked gorgeous!  Her hair and makeup was done by the lovely Madeline Roosevelt and she did an incredible job as always).

the lovely Meredith.
some of the styled sets.

most fun “lecture” ever. too bad college lectures weren’t this fun.

Hopefully some of the students will send me links so I can share their lovely photos here, since obviously my talents lie in styling and not photography :).  Everyone really seemed to like my sets and styling, which is always nice.  Positive affirmation makes all the hard work worth it!
After class….
I met some other lovely ladies teaching classes….. Joy Cho, Sally Shim, and Grace Bonney.  And I got to have lunch with Lisa and Grace at Olympic Provisions
I had the most delicious chicken salad sandwich that left me full for the rest of the day (but that’s another story) and got to enjoy hearing about Grace’s life in Brooklyn.  She was incredibly sweet and down-to-earth and not what I expected the founder of such a huge site like Design*Sponge to be like.  Actually, I’m not really sure what I expected but she was completely lovely.  I didn’t take any photos of our lunch, because I didn’t want to geek out too much, but I definitely thought about it :).  We also checked out Grayling jewelry since it was in the building and sampled the espresso at Coava – the quintessential Portland experience.  All in all it was a lovely time.
Later I came home and rested up since I’d stayed up ridiculously late putting the sets together.  My friend Jamie came over to spend the night and we watched Juno and ate cereal for dinner.  Total party animals, right?
Sunday we….
Had breakfast and went to church with my parents and then had a BBQ at the in-laws place.  Now I’m blogging while I should be doing laundry.  Oops.  I guess it’s time to wrap-up this kind of awesome weekend and finish being productive.  If you read this great big post, then I’m truly impressed.
How was your weekend?
