impromptu wedding planner.

My brother’s wedding was last weekend
and it was lovely.

It wasn’t without its stresses though, but that’s usually the case with any wedding.  Thankfully the stress wasn’t for my brother and his wife…just for those of us organizing.

I mentioned before that I was to be in charge of decor and flowers.  I ended up staying up into the early hours of the morning with Caroline (more about her visit to come) making 30 boutonnieres and four bouquets.  That’s a lot, but I’m so thankful she was there to help me!

{Here’s one of the boutonnieres}

{Here’s the bride’s bouquet.
I didn’t get any pictures of the bridesmaids bouquets sadly…it was SO busy!}

The morning of the wedding we couldn’t get into the reception area until noon and the wedding started at 2:00 – not a lot of time for set-up.  Another surprise was that as soon as I showed up, I became the unofficial wedding planner.  They had a wedding planner at one point, but that fell through and my parents failed to mention this.  As soon as I walked into the building I was met with a million questions: “Where should I put the cake?”, “Where do you want the head table?”, “What can I help with?”.  It was a little overwhelming, but maybe better that I didn’t know ahead of time so I didn’t have long to stress about it.  I was so incredibly busy that I didn’t have time to take a single photo of the decor!  I was super sad about this, but hopefully the photographer caught a couple of the details.  Here’s the only photo I have that a family friend took of the guest table (ignore the sheer table cloths and the bride-and-groom beanie babies…those weren’t my doing).

So there you have a bit of my weekend.
How was yours?

  13. Haha, the beanie babies are kind of funny. I’m excited to see more once you get the photographer photos.
    At my wedding reception, they said during one of our meetings that they put balloons up in the wedding colors. I said please, no tacky balloons. When I walked in after we were married I swear there were balloons everywhere. I guess I should have had a wedding planner…

  14. I love the picture border, that is a great idea
