Dear Fern,
Today’s piece of advice comes to you from the wise Amy Poehler:
“No one looks stupid when they’re having fun.”
This is one of my favorite things about you right now. You are a baby and you don’t care what you look like, you just enjoy the world around you, untainted by peer pressure or the expectations of others. You aren’t worried about being cool yet, which is refreshing.
But, the day will come when you start worrying about what others think, the day when you may choose not to do something you enjoy, because you’re worried it’s not cool. But, Amy Poehler is right…no one looks stupid when they’re having fun.
People are drawn to people with confidence. Know who you are and have fun with life – it’s too short to be stuffy and uptight!
I hope when you grow up you break into song at random moments and dress up in silly outfits and bust out ridiculous dance moves at your high school dances. Have fun, because no one looks stupid when they’re having fun.

“it’s too short to be stuffy and uptight!” Amen! We all go through periods where we’re afraid to be judged, but eventually we realize that we are who we are. If others don’t like it, they need not pay attention! Being true to yourself is an amazing thing. 🙂
