Peace Out Tangles + Tears!

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by SoCozy, but as always thoughts and opinions are my own.

If there is one thing we are definitely not lacking in around here it is tangles. My curly-haired girl has tangles for days. While I truly do love these curls that she gets so many compliments on, they can be a bit of a beast to tame. I’ve legitimately had to cut out curls that became too unruly and transformed themselves into mini dreadlocks and at least once a day Fern will come up to me and ask for help in bridling her mane saying,

“Mommy, can you fix my hair? It’s cray!”

#Curlyhairproblems. The struggle is real.

Last year we discovered the kids hair product line SoCozy when we teamed up with them for a blog post and ever since Fern has been a brand loyalist. She loves that the packaging is fun and bright and that the products smell fun and fruity. I like that everything is free of nasty chemicals. SoCozy products are pretty much a win/win for both of us. So,  when they invited us to try out their new Detangler brush we were in. Like I said…we’ve got tangles to spare. This brush isn’t available yet (it will be May 7th and 8th on HSN though!) so we felt extra fancy getting to be testers.

Here is the unfolding of the taming process…

Here are the tools. We had already tried out the Cinch Detangler spray, but only with our regular brush (a cheap-o I picked up for $3 at a drug store, so obviously super quality) and while it works well, I was curious to see if it would be better with the detangler brush.

This is Fern’s hair in it’s typical state. Crazy top knot + a halo of frizz. The “before” if you will.

There may legitimately be rats making nests in there. I mean…I wouldn’t be terribly surprised.

I kind of just expected this to be the same as when we use the detangler spray with a regular brush, but it was noticeably better! Whatever the bristles are made of had the brush gliding right through those knots, obliterating them in one fell swoop. Side note: I also decided to let Fern test the detangling abilities of the brush on me. I have curls and plenty of tangles too, so I felt it was only fair to let her test in on me…despite the fact that she brushes hair with the gentility of  a brutish caveman. I let her do it sans detangler to get the full-effect and she was super excited, because I usually avoid letting her brush my hair at all costs, because: tiny brut. But this was great! No pain for mama either.

This mousse wasn’t part of the  detangle set we got, but we use it and like it. Plus, Lord knows we need something to keep the curl crazy to a minimum.

And voila! Peace out tangles!

At the end of our product test, I asked Fern what she had to say about the SoCozy Detangler Brush. Her thoughts:

“I like this brush, because it looks like edamame. It’s green like edamame! The spray smells a lot better than edamame though. The brush says SoCozy on it because it makes my hair feel so cozy. It doesn’t hurt!”

So there you have it out of the mouths of babes. This brush is awesome, because…edamame and coziness.

SoCozy Detangling Brush is available exclusively on HSN in their SoCozy Cinch Basics Kit, $24.95. Catch Cozy on HSN on May 7th at 7am or 11am and May 8th at 12pm.

Love it! Fern is going to be a star! 🙂

  2. I’ll have to tell my friend about this cuz they’ve been trying detanglers/leave-in conditioners with no luck & her hair is just as crazy as lil Fern’s. Thanks! 🙂
