What Fern Wore: Matchy Matchy

When it comes to things my little Fernie girl loves, there are very few that garner her undying affection quite like a good matching moment and an excuse to dress up for a theme. She is a girl after her mama’s own heart, because dressing up – silly, fancy or otherwise – also happens to be one of my most favorite things in all the world. The satisfaction that comes from creating a perfect ensemble for an occasion thrills my heart endlessly and apparently the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I also happen to love an excuse to match (see IG hashtag for evidence: #matchymatchymamaandfern), but I digress…

This weekend, Fern had reason for some matching action AND to dress in theme, so obviously it was a banner weekend in the Hartmann house. First, we attended a super sweet Pixie Hollow themed fairy birthday party for Fern’s “best friend Evy”. Basically she just wore a ballet outfit with some fairy wings, but she was stoked nonetheless. She also requested that I add some big white pom poms to her ballet slippers so she could “look like Tink”. I forgot to document them, but they were pretty cute.

Saturday afternoon, we received a sweet little dress duo in the mail for Fern and her American Girl doll from Little Gloriana. They make a ton of super cute Mini + Me outfits, in case you have a little who loves such things too. She couldn’t wait to wear it to church on Sunday morning and it was literally the first thing she asked for upon waking. Also…matching buns, because Fern Winter isn’t one to overlook such details. She was a little bummed that she and her doll wouldn’t have matching shoes, but the twirl factor of her new dress quickly distracted her. The dresses are super adorable and the bows in back are so cute I can hardly stand it. I will note that I thought the material of the dress was a little strange – almost like a swimsuit – but it doesn’t look cheap or weird and it actually turned out to be kind of awesome, because it doesn’t wrinkle. She totally napped in it and you couldn’t tell at all. No-iron fabrics for the win (’cause I totally don’t even own an iron).

Comments

  1. The girl has style and still needs to help me with some outfits. Love these posts so much.

  2. So cute! And I love the doll! Is it really the twin doll? Do you have a boy doll as well? 🙂

    • @Savina – Yes. It’s the twin girl, but we only got one. Not sure if they sell them separately online, but we got ours at the American Girl store in LA and they sold them individually there.
