Furry Fun + Spring Time Style

Recently we were invited to partner with The Children’s Place for a fun campaign they’re doing with kids and their dogs in coordinating outfits for their #lookalikePLACE contest(Oh the cuteness! Which, side note: If you’ve got babies and fur babies, you should check out TCP’s #lookalikePLACE contest over on Instagram! You can read all the details there and submit look-a-like photos of your littles and their furry friends to be entered to win!) Anyway…since I have kids AND a dog this campaign was a pretty natural fit. I mean…it really is time for Marley (our dog) to start earning her keep around here. No more of this free-loading business!

We got to go shopping at The Children’s Place and choose outfits for the kids which was the easy part. I was really happy with the fact that the boys AND girls sections of the store got equal love. So many times I have to shop at multiple locations to find things for both kids, but TCP had a great range of sizes (babies up to big kids) and options for both my kids. I was worried about what we might find since it’s still a bit in-between seasons, but there was a ton of variety – dressier options for my “fancy pants girl”, cozy knits and cotton basics. Basically you could find a dressed-up Easter outfit and comfy *play clothes for a day of running around at the park all in one stop (*my four-year-old thinks Easter dresses and play clothes are one and the same. but for those of you whose children don’t insist on wearing tulle to the playground).

Fern was of course smitten with all the fun, bright colors and prints for their new spring collection. It was pretty much her dream shopping experience, because: COLOR. Despite my perpetual love of all things neutral, I am definitely learning to love color too, since it’s kind of her thing. She had a blast helping put together a look for Clive too (clearly she is a fan of pink) and God bless the lovely employees at TCP for helping us find everything we needed in the midst of our created chaos.

With the shopping completed, it was now time for the tricky part…actually taking photos of three wiggly creatures. Before this I thought that getting two kids to sit still was difficult, but add an excitable dog into the mix and it’s a recipe for chaos – good practice for adding a third kiddo to our brood this spring though! On top of all that wiggly energy, there were many other factors to consider…like my children’s temperament during particular times of day…the lighting…the weather. It was basically like orchestrating a miracle to get a few good snaps, but the skies parted and we made it happen (even though I literally took 100+ photos to get these four decent ones…and even though I completely forgot to accessorize our dog for the #lookalikePLACE contest component of the campaign. Face. Palm. Thankfully TCP was really gracious about that).

What Fern Wore:

dress: c/o The Children’s Place

shoes: c/o The Children’s Place (similar)

hair clip: c/o The Children’s Place (in-store)

What Clive Wore:

shirt: c/o The Children’s Place

jeans: c/o The Children’s Place

shoes: c/o The Children’s Place

So basically what I am saying is that The Children’s Place was a really fun place to shop for spring looks with my kids and that the wrangling of said children + a furry beast was…well…an “experience”. Good thing they’re all so cute and I love them so!

  1. Lauren, I have an off-topic question! Will the new baby be sharing a room with one of it’s siblings? If so, how did you choose who was going to share, by gender or by age? Looking for some insight! 😉

    • Hi Sara! Once the baby arrives Fern and Clive will be sharing a room. They will likely share for a couple of years until Alice is old enough to be in a good sleep routine and will able to not destroy everything in Fern’s space. Haha!
