recession shopping.

Due to the current economic state of our country many people have found themselves cutting back, and one of the first things to be nixed in most budgets would probably be clothing. Let’s face it…all we really need is fabric to cover our bodies…although we’d prefer it to be premium designer denim and Christian Louboutin heels (or maybe that’s just me). If you’re anything like me, shopping isn’t just about coming home with a bag full of new clothes, shoes and accessories; it’s an experience. It’s about feeling the fabric, mixing textures, the thrill of the hunt. The only problem is that the “experience” often ends with the sliding of a debit card because it’s just so hard to walk away empty handed.

Due to this weakness of mine I often choose to simply forgo the temptation by not even “window shopping” – economic crisis or not. BUT…thanks to my lovely friend Claire (check out her great style blog: Backdrop), I have a new way to satisfy my inner window shopper.
Enter: Polyvore. Loaded with images of clothing, accessories and interiors; users can create their own outfits or decorate their own rooms using the images provided by the website or by importing their own. All the perks of window shopping without the temptation to buy…unless you’re an avid online shopper in which case, there is no help for you.
Here’s the outfit I threw together using the site:
OK…I’ll admit, it’s miniscule, but I couldn’t figure out a way to make it bigger, so just check it out here to see my full size creation.
It was fun to make and made me smile. I think I may become an addict.
Please post links to your creations if you decide to try it out yourself…I’d love to see what you come up with!

  1. This is my dream website! I can tell I’m going to spend hours on it in the future. Here’s an outfit I just created (I’ve never been good with titles, so it’s just called “Stacey’s hot outfit!).
