my favorite thing about today #12

My favorite thing about today was living vicariously through a child.

I had the day off work because of Veteran’s Day and spent it babysitting a little boy who used to be in my class. We had the best day.

We went to the Children’s Museum, visited my dad at his work (Bob’s Red Mill) and got to see all the machines and how the mill worked, had lunch together (nothing but gourmet…grilled cheese sandwich with ketchup per his request), made art projects out of random scraps, and read elevendy billion books.
BUT….my favorite part of the day was when he snuggled up next to me on the couch and we made up a story together. In the story we were angry beavers named Toupee and Light bulb out to catch smugglers named Wall and Henry who were stealing bricks from people’s houses. It was awesome.
It’s moments like that when I think I’m ready for my own kids….. but then I remember that you don’t get paid to hang out with your own kids and you can’t send them home at the end of the day. I’m sure I’ll get there one day though :).
