My favorite thing about today is that it is Civil War day!
For those who dont know, today is the Civil War which is a super big deal to us Oregonians. It’s our annual college football rivalry between Oregon State (my Alma mater… GO BEAVS!) and University of Oregon. This year’s game is pretty much the biggest in the school’s history because the winner will get to go to The Rose Bowl which is kind of a big deal if you didn’t know.
So today I’ll be cheering on my Oregon State Beavers if for no other reason than that I really want to take a road trip to Pasadena California and see my beautiful friend Claire who just moved there. But… also for school pride and a year’s worth of bragging rights.
Oh…and also…is this not adorable? I can’t show this cutie’s face cause I don’t want to be responsible for broadcasting him across the Internet but let’s just say that his dad is a U of O ducks fan (*our rivals) and while being in my class has been converted into an OSU fan who knows the fight song and asked his dad for a Beavers shirt for today’s game. It made me super happy.
yes! I just want you to know that on our way to the Max this morning Ben and I sang the fight song with our windows down and frozen snot dripping down our noses because it was so cold…but so worth it. GO BEAVS!
Nice – way to corrupt little kids into supporting the wrong team! I wish I was into the Oregon/OSU rivalry, but I have too many family members who support OSU, and too many friends who went to Oregon, to be able to choose one team over the other.
haha, you are going to hate me, but when i lived in Oregon..i was living there with my uncle who coached football at the U of O….don’t hate me! i have an Oregon sticker still on my car… however, he doesn’t coach there anymore..and i LOVE all of Oregon. i will root for the Beavers for ya 🙂 even though i was a duck fan for so long… the sticker is still on my car… i’ll pretend it is for the beavers 🙂 that is awesome about that little boy! so cute!
Rival games are the best! Mizzou recently played KU and it was neck and neck, last minute we were losing and within the final seconds we won! It was an intense game. I hope you have tons of fun!
how fun! When I was at UW it was the Apple Cup against Washington State and at Berkeley it was the Big Game vs. Stanford. It’s always fun to have a little rivalry going on!

usc has always owned the rose bowl, but they are not going this year 🙁 or else, i’d be flying back home to be in pasadena for new year’s. BUT…if OSU represents pac-10, i will cheer for them. if the ducks represent, i say the ohio state buckeyes will be serving dinner in pasadena: roasted duck!

It was great fun watching the Civil War game with you and Craig. The picture is really adorable. Congrats on converting yet another little one to Team Beavs. He’s a really cute little Beavers fan.
