2010 olympic fashion fail.

Oh Team USA.....

It’s lucky for you that the Olympics don’t judge fashion.  You’d all be in trouble with those awful Ralph Lauren creations.  Ralph…I see what you were going for, but sometimes your garments look better on models than on real people.

here’s what Ralph was going for:

here’s what the result was:
It was actually a little worse than this because they had hideous hiking boots on too, but I couldn’t find a good picture of them.  I think they should’ve gone with these closing ceremony outfits (below) to start out with a bang and then worn those ugly pants at the closing ceremonies….much more attractive….plus nobody really watches the closing ceremonies anyway.  I’d love to wear one of these sweaters actually.
Oh…and what the heck was going on with the Canadian dancers in the opening ceremonies????  Whoever designed these white, puffy down skirts was obviously NOT designing for a woman’s body.  Ugh!  And don’t even get me started on the white, ribbed, turtleneck sweaters.  Do ribbed sweaters actually look good on ANYONE?  I vote no.  Pretty much ribbed sweaters should be outlawed.  Even the skinniest woman would’ve looked like a total fatty in these terrible ensembles.  Apparently nobody else thought these were blog-worthy so I couldn’t find many photos (hence the small, blurry photos), but I had to speak out against this fashion atrocity.
Painful.

Oh…and tomorrow I’ll announce a giveaway winner, so stay tuned!

  1. Haha, yeah those aren’t so great. I think navy on the bottom would have been better!
I can’t wait to waste countless hours watching people more athletic than me do cool things 🙂

  2. They were terrible!
    I’m glad you agree!

    D: Horrific really.

  3. To me the outfits look like they came from a generic department store, NOT a designer! The cardigans weren’t so awfully bad, but that’s the only compliment I have. And those white skirts?!? Terrible! I feel embarrassed for those women!

  4. Hehehe, so mean yet so true!

  5. I actually like the navy and red polo sweaters but everything else was a major fail! I would love to know who thought it was a good idea to put those Canadian girls in down comforter skirts too!

  6. hahahaha you are too funny!
i didnt watch but im glad i didnt now:)

  7. Hahaha those white coats were….an interesting choice. I will say that Ralph was so much better in creating cute and fashionable outfits for the athletes of the last summer Olympics.

  8. I agree! These were awful!!

  9. Thank you for keeping the world safe from awful fashion!

  10. Oh my goodness I completely agree with how ugly those skirts were! I was watching them alone (babysitting after the kids were sleeping) and thinking how hideous they were to myself! I have a white down vest.. but would never think of wearing it on my lower half! I thought it was funny how massive the logo was on the jackets but besides that didn’t mind those. I don’t even know if this comment will work since I don’t have a blog but I thought I’d try to start commenting since I read it all the time!

  11. I completely agree with you. Do you know how much those ugly white sweaters are selling for??? 350!!! For and ugly grandma sweater. But I really do want one of those ski caps with the moose!

  12. I loved the jackets but yah the pants were very unflattering & topped with the unison beanie was a little much. I’m an Olympian attic! What’s your fav? Mine is singles ice skating : ) Have a good Vday w/ ur man : )

  13. I’m with you on the white puffy skirts. I also hated their huge white headbands.

  14. Oh, I missed the Opening Ceremonies! I don’t have cable, you see. But I do have 4 channels, and I didn’t know one of them was showing the Olympics so I missed it. But they always show those ceremonies again…

Your post made me LMAO 😛 I agree with you, not flattering at all! And I do love those sweaters, I saw one yesterday similar to these, and loved it!

    Happy Valentine’s!

  15. Oh my goodness, I was thinking that the WHOLE TIME! Those skirts were awful, and seriously puffy jackets?! show off their athletic bodies, don’t hide them beneath pounds of puff!

  16. I’m a new follower, found you thru Lexylou at Mad Times…love your blog!

    & I TOTALLY agree – fashion FAIL!

  17. Lauren you crack me up! I liked the jackets but I was so not a fan of the sweater-turtleneck things underneath. Those canadian dancers most certainly DID need help, and lots of it!

    Thanks for the laugh today:)

  18. the pants kind of looked like a “one size fits all” sort of thing…

but i did like the hats! haha

  19. Haha! I could not agree more. Especially with those bubble skirts.

  20. oh my gosh the canadian dancers are like fluffy snowballs! i’m glad to see i didn’t miss much by not watching the opening ceremonies.

  21. Oh man, your hilarious. I didn’t watch it, one I don’t have cable, but I should have as it is in our own backyard… But I am glad I did not after what you said, I would have cringed and been embarrassed to be Canadian…. Hey, not all of us have your amazing taste my dear.
    xoxo lexy

  22. haha oh man, fashion fail for sure!! i hope you have had a fantastic valentines day lauren! i hope that craig did something super special for ya! love ya friend!

  23. I have to agree…the jackets and hats are not so bad, but seriously who looks good in white pants? Happy Valentine’s Day!

  24. Had to go and look and find a video online at what these white puff outfit’s were all about… Geez man, they look like frick’n self blooming tampon’s for goodness sakes…. Who in their right mind would put a woman in that?! Gahhh.
Thanks for the super sweet sweetness on my last post. You my friends will be a super cool Mom, who I might add, will dress her children VERY well…
    loves xxoo

  25. soo hilarious… had to read this post out loud to the hubs WHILE we have the Olympics ON PAUSE! lol!

  26. oh my gosh, i couldn’t agree more! i do like the hats though. but the puffy skirts?? who thought that was a good idea?! 😉

  27. Oh my word, how terrible! I feel so sorry for them, they pretty much have to wear what the sponsors decide… Ralph, you should hang your head in shame.
