two things i love…around my home.

So…before I share my two things I just wanted to say that I am so thrilled to have so many new followers!  For those of you who are new around here I want to let you know that I don’t blog to get more followers, but it thrills me to pieces that you all stop by to visit and read what I write.

AND….I just wanted to let everyone know that I really and truly do love all the sweet comments you leave me.  I appreciate each and every one and they make my day.  But, lately I’ve been feeling slightly overwhelmed by all the comments I’ve been getting…not be

cause I don’t enjoy them, but because I really like to respond to as many as I can, but I’ve been getting behind lately.  A few people have even given me blog awards that I have yet to respond to.  Ugh.  I’m feeling seriously sucky at this whole commenting thing.  I just wanted to offer up my e-mail if you have a comment that you’d really like a response to, or you can follow me on twitter and send me a message there.

My e-mail is:  loveoflittlethings@gmail.com

My twitter name is:  LaurensLoDown

OK….now moving on to my two things I love around my home…..

Kassi’s “Two Things I Love Around My Home”

is one of my favorite things about Tuesdays…
Except that today I’m sharing mine on Wednesday.
Better late than never, right?

If you haven’t joined in for the fun yet.  Do it!  It’s so fun seeing how everyone else decorates their homes and also just stopping to appreciate the little things you love around your own home.  Join in and then link your post up on Kassi’s blog here.

Here are my two things….

{#1: my wedding photo wall collage}

It’s hard to figure out a way to display wedding photos that isn’t narcissistic.  Basically all the pictures are of you, and you don’t want it to be overkill, but you also want to be able to display mementos of what was probably one of the happiest days of your life.  I think black and white does this because it’s classic and understated.  Plus, it caters to my OCD nature and makes everything matchy matchy.  I got frames on the cheap at Fred Meyer….they were all $4 except for the large frame which was $5.  Quite the steal.

AND…………

{#2: Marley}
Isn’t she precious?  I think she counts as something I love around my home because she’s always laying around under my feet and following me around the house.  She makes me happier than all my pretty things combined.  Especially when she lays on the rug in the kitchen and watches me do dishes.  She’s learned that if she sits there long enough, I’ll usually take a break and give her a cookie (the dog kind of course).  I can’t even explain how much I love her.  I hope I can love a real live human baby this much one day.

I may have to teach my human baby tricks to make me like it more, since I’m currently not a huge baby fan.  Craig and I had a conversation about how we’re going to teach our kid how to do all kinds of cool stuff….like do those baby reading programs where they teach 3 month olds how to read, and we’ll potty-train it by 4 months at the latest…and walking by 5 months.  It’s gonna be awesome.  OK….maybe all that stuff won’t happen, but I do think I might like babies more if they did cool stuff.  I really want to be a stay-at-home mom one day, but I think Craig may have to stay home with the kids until they turn two, because I like kids much better from age two on.  Everyone says that I’ll like a baby better when it’s my own, but I’m still not sure.  We’ll see.

OK….that’s it.  Hope you guys enjoyed my two things, and I can’t wait to go read yours!

P.S.  Sorry this post is so freaking long!

Comments

  1. I love love posts especially with pictures!!! 🙂 Not much more to say right now except that I love this post and that it brightened my day. Congrats on so many followers. 😀 And I agree I like kids much better when they’re about two and can respond or sort of respond to what you tell them. I am not a baby person, but it’s what we all have to go through I guess. All stages… 😉

    Have a wonderful day girl.

    xoxo

  2. I like your wall collage, and I agree that B&W is more classic. I hardly have anything on my walls because I’m so OCD about everything matching!

Obviously I love Marley! I feel the saem way about Flojo, and not many people can understand that I can love a parrot so much. I think part of the reason I’m so scared to have a baby (aside from the fact that I’m not big on babies) is because I don’t want to have to take any time away from Flojo, and I don’t know how I could love a baby as much as I love her!

Sorry I hogged Kassi last night! I’ve been doing my research and it doesn’t look like (from what I’ve found, but you may know more) that a PC user can video conference with multiple people 🙁 So I signed up for Skype, but I don’t know if that would work any differently and let me at least talk to all three of you at the same time, even if I wouldn’t be able to see you.

Sorry I wrote a book for my comment! Hope you have a good day!

  3. I love my cat so much, I love coming home from trips and her curling up with me while I watch tv.

Your wedding wall is gorgeous, I think it looks great!

    xo,ash

  4. I like your wedding photo wall, I’ve been trying to think how we’ll display ours.
I’m totally with you on not liking babies. Once they get older they’re so much funnier.
    Happy Wednesday!

  5. I am totally feeling you on the whole not being a baby person. My husbands family is more than excited and ready for us to start having kids…but the whole birthing a human being and caring for it until it can become slightly independent—oh it terrifies me! My mom tells me I’ll feel differently whenever the time comes (and the baby), but who knows!

  6. I feel the same way about babies! Everyone always tells me when I have my own it will be different, I guess both of us will have to see!

I loooove your wedding photo wall & I think my puppy is the best thing about my house!

  7. awwww I love your wedding collage, it’s gorgeous!!! Marley is so cute!!! I love big dogs, I have a rottie named Max, 130 pounds of sweetness 🙂 Love your blog!!
    xoxo,

  8. “…since I’m currently not a huge baby fan.”

I’m glad I’m not the only one. And it’s weird because I have total baby fever. I figure it’s different when you have your own kids.

Marley looks like a total sweetie pie!

  9. i can totally relate to both a) loving your dog immensely, and b) not being baby crazy… i’ve always preferred 2+ too. i’m sure it will change when he have our own though.

    have a lovely day!!

  10. I wish I had wall space to put up picture collages! Love yours and Marley’s so cute! I left you an award on my blog today sweetie! Come by to pick it up!

  11. oh girl! you are in for SUCH a treat when you do have your own baby! I was the exact same way. even crying at the end of my pregnancy to my sister saying “what in the world am i gonna do with a baby!!! i cant even change a diaper without throwing up!” it’s so so so true what they say about your own though. from one skeptic to another…. you will love that thing to pieces and beyond (yes, even more then marley)

  12. Oh Marley! She looks like a lovely dog, reminds me a bit of my ex-housemate’s dog, she was so awesome!

  13. Marley is so precious!

I know what you mean about not liking kids under the age of two. And I too always tell people that I’m not sure I’ll actually enjoy having babies, and they tell me that I’ll feel differently when it’s my own, and I just kind of feel like those people might be smoking crack. The thought of having to raise a baby fills me with pure dread.

  14. oh your wedding photo wall is adorable! everyone is allowed to be a little narcissistic when it comes to your wedding! but you managed to do it in such a classy beautiful way!
    and i love everyone’s dogs in the blogging world. it makes me want to go out and get one right now! {but for now i’ll make do with my fish!}

  15. i’m so happy you called it fred meyer. maybe it’s still fred meyer in oregon. but here in utah it was bought by smith’s and is now “smith’s marketplace”. but it will always be fred meyer in my mind. or fred meyer and frank cause sometimes my mom got the two mixed up.

also, i LOVE your dog. she is so pretty.

  16. I like to respond to all my comments too, but hey, I’d rather you write really great posts than spend all your time answering back. That’s just me being selfish though 🙂

  17. I love the idea of the wedding photo wall collage… it’s quite unique and so creative. I have to suggest that to my clients. 🙂 xoxo

  18. I completely agree with Echo, once you have your own you won’t be able to imagine your life without them. You will spend hours just watching them and all the funny things they do and amazing things they are learning. You will love them more that you ever thought was possible. I think the Lord gives us 9 months to get used to the idea of a baby for a reason!
Sorry, I didn’t mean to turn into a complete cheeseball! 🙂
(can I have a Marley too, she is so sweet!)

  19. i love your puppy! i completely understand the love you can have for your pets, i feel the same way about my little babies.

oh, and i love your living room in the rate my space. i took my pictures on my blackberry and they look completely crappy, and the lighting is terrible.

oh, well…it is stull fun to see everyone’s spaces. including yours missy:)

  20. oh lauren! i love your post!
im a fan of pictures, my cousin walks in my room and said ” wow you love pictures of eachother” hahaha i love your wall. it brings back those special times and it helps when your in a fight!
    xoxox
sorry i missed the chat. im sad,

oh and your dog is a cutie even though im not a dog lover:)

  21. Your dog looks so nice and friendly! We have a wedding collage too. Or rather a collage that is mostly wedding photos and some others. Over time we’ll transition more away from wedding and to other things. But for now the wedding is the biggest thing we have pictures of!

  22. oh I love the photo collage! I’m sure it must be so nice to look at those pictures! And Marley is the cutest. She seems like such a sweet dog!

  23. I think that those are definitely reasonable goals for your baby. I’m not the biggest baby fan either, I think that they are lots more fun when they can talk and play with you. P.S. I love your wedding photo collage. Most of just us pictures from our wedding are black and white and I love it.

  24. I love Marley! but you already know I am a fan of sheps… and she is just so cute and beautiful and sweet! I wish I could meet her in real life! I bet Jacob would fall madly in love with her!

  25. I love the collage wall. We had a nighmare with our wedding photographer (hint: never ask a friend who’s thinking of retiring from the indusry to do your pictures) so don’t have any nice pictures of us.

Love the dog too, how sweet!

  26. thanks for playing along friend. and a day late is totally okay! yay!
i don’t do the whole wedding picture thing… never been a fan. but i really like how you have displayed yours!
marley is the sweetest. too cute!
you’ll be surprised at how easy being a mom is and how in love you will fall for your baby. trust me. you’ll be a great mom.
speaking of moms, say hi to yours for me – she’s great!
    love ya!

    xo. thanks.
    xo. thanks.

  27. Made me smile – I love the contrast between the classy wedding photo wall and the goofy expression on Marley’s face. Thanks for giving me a chuckle this afternoon!

  28. I think people like babies more when theyre their own.

  29. i LOVE black and white. we printed quite a few of ours in b&w and it makes them have such a timeless feel.

She is my favorite because she loves me just because. What’s not to love about her? Tell Kassi that she’s pretty great too. Thank her for giving you great advice about being a mom. 🙂
