how to….host a lovely spring party.

A “How to” by Melanie:
The lovely Melanie over at You Are My Fave really needs no introduction.  Her blog is lovely and inspiring and I could go on and on….and on….  She also knows how to throw a mean shin-dig (as seen here in one of my favorite examples).  So….because of her awesome party planning skills, her “how to” post will follow suit and she’ll give you ideas for how to be the hostess with the mostess.  Here she is!

Oh spring, does anybody not like this season? I love how when the weather hints that it’s time for the arrival of flowers and green grass I see a surge of bike riding, outdoor activity and smiles. It’s the perfect time for a fresh picnic party in nine fairly simple steps.

1. Make a simple invite I love the pale yellow and lavender color scheme of these invites. A simple font design, a sprig of lavender and a cute envelope. Done and done.

2. Gather up blankets from around your house or sew simple floral blankets Roll them up and put them in a basket for your guests to grab and roll out on the lawn. Martha has a tutorial for fading your floral fabrics for a more worn vibe.

3. Hold down the blankets with little buckets of flowers Lavender or even baby’s breath (dare I say!) is inexpensive and perfect for spring.

4. Attach white balloons to the buckets They’re easy and so darn happy.

5. Make napkins in fun spring colors Because it’s all about the details.

6. Get some wooden utensils Aren’t these so much cuter than plastic?

7. Have little sack lunches prepared for guests Sandwiches (without mayo) wrapped in butcher paper and little jars of fruit are just right.

8. And have angel food cake and strawberry kebabs for dessert

9. Play some lawn games or just look at the clouds floating by

9. Package pastel macarons for favors

Thanks Melanie!

What a great way to
celebrate spring, no?

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!
