lovely lazy weekend.

This weekend was pretty lazy.
….and I liked it that way.
FRIDAY:
Friday was lazy as usual.
Craig and I never really feel motivated
to do much on Friday nights.
We did watch
It was pretty violent, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to those who are faint of heart, but it was really interesting and the special features section was a documentary about all the crime and violence that goes on in Rio de Janeiro that was really interesting as well.

SATURDAY:

Brainstormed some ideas for a friend’s baby shower.  I’m not hosting it, but I’m in charge of decor and doing a lot of planning.  I decided on a French theme because the baby will have a French name and apparently the nursery decor that my friend has chosen is French inspired.  I’m thinking French country.  Here are the invites I whipped up.  Not sure which we’ll go with yet.

Then I met up with a new friend for tea and after all the lovely French inspiration I’d viewed all morning I decided I felt like going to a lovely little French cafe.  We ended up at St. Honoré Boulangerie.  It’s a cute little place and I had delicious chai tea and a pain au chocolate.  YUM!
Later on we went to dinner and to a movie.  Dinner was a gigantor hamburger that was covered in artery clogging bacon and blue cheese but was oh-so-delicious.  Then we saw “Kick Ass”.  I like stupid humor from time to time, but this was just a waste of time.  There were a couple of funny parts, but overall it was just stupid.  Also, we got stuck in a theater with all the most annoying people in the world.  Apparently no one ever taught them that you’re supposed to use your inside voice in the movie theater.  Ugh!

SUNDAY:

It was so gorgeous out so a lot of my day
was spent outside enjoying the sunshine.

I never left the house, but Craig and I
had lunch outside on our deck.

I made up this pasta and it was really good.
I put all these things in it:

*chorizo
*feta
*yellow summer squash
*zucchini
*cilantro
*chipotle
*pesto
*garlic
*and of course noodles

Sounds a little weird, but it was a good combo.

THEN….

Marley and I hung out in the backyard.

I painted my toe nails,
wore a dress without tights (first time in ages!)
and read magazines/ blogged.
Marley just rolled around in the grass
and basked in the sunshine.
She loves it when we sit in the grass with her.

AND….

Play-off Basketball + Blizzards in the evening.
Round 1 for the Blazers v.s. The Phoenix Suns.
I know most of you don’t care about basketball
but it’s pretty exciting stuff in our house :).
And THEY WON!!!

Hope you guys had lovely weekends.
Did you do anything eventful?
Do share!

P.S.  I posted this photo on my twitter to get some feedback.  Bought this (dark brown)leather vest and I want to wear it to the Camera Obscura show this Friday.  How would you style it?  I’m stumped on shoes!

Comments

  1. pasta looks yummy, & i love your vest! I would wear it with shorts, a white tank or tee, & some boots (cowboy or rider). i mix all colors of black & brown so i would say any color would do.
    i love these looks: http://www.tumblr.com/tumblelog/whatannaloves/search/shorts+boots

  2. Such a long weekend…

  3. Your weekend sounds perfect – lazy Friday evenings are the best! And you know summer’s on its way when you eat lunch outside and don’t wear tights! Hurrah!

  4. Looks like it was a perfect weekend. I love the bird invite for your friends shower, you are very talented!

  5. Lovely post full of delightful photos !

I think I would wear the vest with a floral dress under and boots !

  6. Thanks for the heads up on Kick Ass, I was going to go see it but hadn’t made up my mind. Plus I too, get the really loud, obnoxious people at the theater, oh well!
Looks like you had a super fun Sunday! Blizzards are the bestest. (I’m partial to Skor)

  7. id team it with some pointy kitten heels or gladiator sandals in the same colour and skinny jeans 🙂
sounds like a fab weekend 🙂

  8. Looks like you had a great weekend Lauren, btw, I love the Eiffel Tower invite, so cute, great job!!!

  9. I liked City of God, too, but wow. Just so traumatizing. I watched it alone while my boyfriend was around doing homework (this was like 2 years ago) and had to continually interrupt him to get hugs. You know, just to believe in the good in humanity again…

  10. I ALWAYS make up random delicious noodle bowls haha. Your weekend sounds amazing, I can’t wait till this blasted semester is over and I can get back to relaxing weekends too!!

  11. Those pictures of Marley are adorable!
As for shoes, since you’re going to a concert (and I hate to say it) flats are what I’d recommend. But I still say wear a girly dress underneath with some cute flats.
    Happy Monday darling!

  12. your sweet Marley is just so photogenic. i love it. i want to cuddle her. xoxox

  13. Lazy weekends are the best!
I love your invitations, especially the second one, a french theme is pretty cool!
I love Marley, he is such a cute dog!
    Have a lovely week!
    xo Britti

  14. what a fun weekend! and it looks like you had some beautiful weather!

for the shoes…i would say boots or flats. depending on the jeans/dress you wear underneath it!

glad you had a good weekend!

  15. what a busy and fun weekend! I am actually from Brazil and like ‘city of god’ a lot – but is is quite violent. nice meeting your adorable blog 🙂

  16. Your weekend sounds pretty wonderful actually. We had a pretty lazy weekend here too. So nice!

  17. Those invitations are so cute! I vote for the first one…hard choice, though. And all that talk about French bakeries and baby showers has me yearning to go back to Europe…sigh. I’ll just have to wait until September!

  18. Looks like you had a fen weekend. That vest is great! I think it would look good with a dark denim jean and heeled sandals.

  19. I looove making up new dishes! That pasta looks awesome 🙂

    GO BLAZERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    and.. that vest is cute!!!

  20. i would definitely wear it with boots. city of god is an AMAZING film. it is very violent, but it’s soooo well done.

  21. Marley is gorgeous! Sounds like the perfect relaxing weekend, I love those! I like the first baby shower invite! :).

  22. that pasta looks delicious! and it’s so fun that you have those fun drinks at home… i by things like that more often….
we of course had a few friends over last night for the game and boy was it EXCITING!!!!!! it was so great. i can’t believe they won without Brandon. But i can believe it because they are just so great.

  23. sounds like you had a lovely weekend, dear! i love going to baby showers. 🙂
    have a great monday!

I wish Oregon was closer b/c our girls (also GSDs) would love to play with Marley! 🙂

  25. sounds like a lovely weekend! that pasta sounds so flavorful! we had really chilly weather here this weekend — can’t wait till we can eat outside and i can go tight-less! oh and have fun at the camera obscura concert! they are one of my favorites.

  26. this sounds like a wonderful weekend, i’m SO happy to see the sunshine and spring weather too! your baby shower invites are precious, i love the top one!

i think your new vest will be prefect for the concert! you could try pairing it with something floral and maybe some booties?

  27. i’d wear it with that cute skirt up in the top right corner of the picture (or some other fun, floral skirt) and cowboy boots (or rider since you’re in portland and not texas).

  28. This post was great!! And, that little cafe … how perfect and those invites incredibly sweet. You are one talented lady Lauren. Sending you love, hugs and laughter. XO

  29. sounds as if you had a wonderful weekend 🙂
I found you through Chelsie’s blog! I love yours!

  30. My kind of weekend Lauren! I love lazy ones.

Your outdoor pictures are fabulous and Marley looks so happy to be in the sunshine too!
    xx

  31. I just HEART lazy weekends! I must try that pasta dish 🙂

  32. Go Blazers! I told Sean I am rooting for them because practically the ENTIRE Jazz team is injured and they are not predicted to beat Denver. Makes me sad because I do not like the Nuggets. but i still have faith. Sean has none. he says they are dunzo. awesome. whatever. men. so anyway, Portland is my next favorite choice so I am rootin for you guys! i LOVE the playoffs. hope you guys go far!

and i am sorry you didn’t like Kick Ass! It wasn’t the best movie i have seen but i was with a bunch of friends that i always make movies sooo much funnier, so i think that helped 🙂 and we didn’t have any of the annoying people in there! anyway, your weekend looks lovely 🙂

i hope you are doing great, and have a good monday! if that is even possible..good and monday? they don’t usually seem to mix! love you friend!

  33. That pasta sounds and looks d-lish! Lazy weekends are the best! I had a similar one with my hubby, full of crafting (made some super cute felt birdy brooches) and vintage hunting (polaroid camera and baskets!) Arent those kind of days just the greatest?!

  34. i really like the top invitation, but then again i’m a huge fan of those old looking scrolly type banners.

marley is so cute i just wish i could give her a big bear hug! i’m glad the weather was nice so you two were able to spend time lounging in the grass.

i like the vest, but i’m the last person that should give fashion advice. i actually think i’m too boring in my style, but chris just told me the other night that he wished i “dressed more normal.” yikes!

  35. Sounds like such a lovely weekend!

I am loving the invites you made – don’t think I could ever just “whip up” something quite so cute!

LOVE the vest. My vote goes for some sassy ankle booties…

  36. your weekend sounds so nice! I love the invites you designed. They’re so pretty and French!

And with the jacket I say try dark jeans, a loose & long tank, and pointy/dramatic heels 🙂

  37. Sounds like a great weekend, and I’m so jealous that you are seeing Camera Obscura this weekend- love them!! I would probably pair the vest with a full printed skirt and booties to strike a hard/soft balance. Have fun!

  38. What a lovely weekend you had! Love the pictures. As for that awesome new vest, have you tried pairing it with a flowery, girly dress to see how it looks? That might work. And man oh man, am I jealous you get to see Camera Obscura! Enjoy! 🙂

  39. Aw, you have a way of making every detail so cute and fun. I love this happy post.

  40. what a fun weekend you had! I love all of the outdoor photos with the magazines/painted toes/and food! so fun. It rained here in New England every single day, so needless to say, I spent most of my time inside and cooped up at the mall!

  41. what a lovely weekend indeed. I love the pictures of Marley. My dog loves rolling in the grass and having me cuddle with her in it too. So cute.

  42. Wow so much to comment on! First I like the top invitation with the bird, cute design! and boy do I miss pain au chocolate, mmmmmmmmmmmm. I love chunky noodle dishes, I need to try yours. and I’d wear the vest with some sort of cute flat maybe red? Or some boots.

  43. your marley is so cute!
the outfit you wore really adorable! 🙂

    xx,
    jess

  44. OH DEAR I LOVE MARLEY!!! and I also love your invitations, how special.

I couldn’t watch the second half of City of God, tooo violent, but a really good movie. Now my older brothers won’t let me visit my girlfriend in rio.

Hope you had a great Monday, love your blog.
