a sonnet to my iphone.

I actually don’t know how to write a sonnet.
I’m not a fan of poetry.
My 10th grade English teacher ruined it for me.
Her name was Mrs. Borasund.
The name fit and she was SUPER boring.
She literally spoke in Iambic Pentameter.
Really annoying as you can imagine.

BUT….I do love my iPhone
and I’m so glad my genius husband fixed my broken screen,
so I’m going to write it a heartfelt letter instead.

My dearest iPhone,

I kind of love you a lot.  The way you lead me through the streets of Portland….always there compensating for my lacking sense of direction.  I know you’ll always be there for me to lean on.  You follow me everywhere and present me with lovely tokens of your affection via beautiful photos and random little bits of information that you provide to meet my every whim.  I’m sorry that I dropped you and shattered your screen.  I promise that in the future I will not take you and our relationship for granted and will not drop you again.  BUT….in the even that I do….here are some potential safeguards I will be investing in to ensure I never hurt you again…..

love,

Lauren
Maybe you’d like one of these
lovely cases dear iPhone?

How do you keep your cell phone
from getting trashed?
…Aside from just not dropping it?

Hope you have a wonderful day!

  1. I love the idea of a wooden iphone case!

    😀

  2. i hate it when tachers ruin things for us. like my 7th grade english teacher; she made it a rule that no one was allowed in her class without their shirt tucked in (and she would make us leave to go tuck it in) as she said we were old enough to start being respectable ladies and gentlemen. since then, i cringe at the thought of tucking in ANYTHING!

i love that faux bois cover. it’s almost worth me buying an iphone just to have the cover!

  3. awww. i’m so jealous… i don’t have an iphone. i went to get one with my christmas money (since i’m already with at&t) and since it’s not my “upgrade time” yet, they wanted to charge me $800 for the 16gig. no joke. i laughed and said “uh, forget it then”.

enjoy yours, girl! maybe someday i’ll join in on the fun!

  4. Um yeah. In less than 6 months I dropped a cell phone in a pitcher of espresso and then I broke the wheel on another cell phone, causing the screen to freeze. So now I have this piece of junk Nokia that is hard to text on and I am so sad.

I don’t think anything could stop me from wrecking a phone. I’m just a klutz.

  5. Soon I will get an iPhone and really take care of it. 🙂 And those cases are super cute. Love the polka dotted one. 🙂
And yes, teachers can ruin things for us. For years I was looking forward to learning a new language, and once my French classes started I hated it. My tearchers were rude, very strict and so not worth going to class. Doesn’t mean I skipped but I dreaded every single hour we had…and we had up to seven hours a week. 🙁

    Happy Thursday.

    xoxo

  6. I’m not one to talk…I drop my BlackBerry ALL the time. It runs fine still, but the trackball fell out and I haven’t gotten around to replacing it. A BlackBerry without a trackball is not very effective 🙁

  7. LOVING the uncommon one….I might buy that one!

I use a shiny gold metallic case from incase, but it’s a little flaky around the edges- since it’s a metallic. They have some cool perforated cases though! Check em out 🙂

  8. you are hillarious! im glad you got your phone fixed! xo
    brandi
cant wait cant wait cant wait!!!

  9. Ummm I kind of freakin love you – you always make me laugh and smile like all the time hence I miss you.

  10. My phone’s always get trashed..so oneday when I get a nice one I think I’ll have to get insurance too:) I’ve always thought the wood case is awesome/hilarious! Glad you’re back up and running normally. Sounds like it must have been rough without him. I picture you wandering aimlessly around Portland with no help from your little friend!
Tuesdays I pretty much work now.. Maybe a Saturday or we could get lunch after church again sometime?

  11. haha this is so ironic because yesterday i was just looking for a new iphone cover! i even saw that first one you posted! sooo cute! i have one right now that does a good job, but it is getting dingy looking. it is plastic, but flexible, and it is clear but now looks dirty. my friend lee has a cover for her itouch that she got at target and the brand is called Speck. i looked on line yesterday and they have such cute ones! they are like fitted fabric ones, but have hard plastic on the sides and edges to protect it when you drop it! you should checke them out..they are so cute! you can even pick an artist or design and have it someone customized!

i like the fitted looking ones 🙂 or the fitted artsprojekt ones!

  12. I love all of those cases! When I finally get my iPhone, I’ll definitely be investing in one or two!

I have never used a cover or case for my phones because I have always had flip phones, and I hate the covers for them. I have only dropped my phones a couple of times, and they have survived relatively unscathed. But, when I get a more expensive phone, I will protect it better. Cases have come such a long way!

  13. oh my goodness… i NEED that mustache phone holder!

  14. I bought a soft rubber casing and it came with screen protectors. Lifesavers.

  15. Man I kept looking at the cases and thinking oh get that one…scroll down..oh, get that one it’s even better. Those are awesome. I don’t even have an iphone, but now I want a case for my non existent one.

  16. ahhh i love the wooden one, but they are so darn expensive! ughh.

  17. hooray for handy husbands and also that colorful chevron-ish cover!

  18. love that fifth one! i have yet to get an iphone, but my hubby has been nagging me about it forever, so i think we’re both going to upgrade when the new one comes out this summer! so excited to finally have my own to play with (& to give me directions when i’m hopelessly lost in LA…)

  19. oooh, I really love the first one! very cute!
…and I think I love my iphone just as much as you love yours 😉

  20. too funny. as i was reading the beginning of this, i was thinking- she needs to get a cute protective cover from esty. great minds think alike. btw, lauren: i was raised mormon (lds) i think we had a back and forth about religion. i am no longer mormon, however- but could very much appreciate your post on “waiting.” was raised with the same values/ideas.

  21. I NEED to get a case for my Droid. I just know I’m going to destroy it some day. You should’ve seen my old Blackberry… it lost every battle with the sidewalk!

  22. hahaha i loved it…

I keep it from harm by keeping it in the holster or in my chest pocket.

  23. I wish I had put my blackberry in some sort of case. 1.5 years later, and its such a mess

  24. such cute cases
i should make you one… maybe it’ll be ready by the time you come out if you still need one 😉
    mucho love my friend

    xo. thanks.
    xo. thanks.

  25. I am in love with the 5th case you posted, and bookmarked it for when I finally convince my husband to let us switch to AT&T so I can have one. We’re currently blackberry people, and he is adament about NOT switching, but damn it, I want my iphone!

  26. my favorite is the mustache one!

  27. HaHa, Oh my golly, this is GENUIS! Total and pure genius! Thanks for sharing. I love it!

  28. these are wayyy to fun!!! now all I need is an iphone..

  29. I really love the red polka dot case. Thanks for sharing. I hope to buy one because I love that there’s a little pocket to hold your ID, cash or cards.
