fill in the blank friday.

Today I procrastinated these blanks…lucky for me I had a couple of lovely readers submit some questions for this week’s Fill in the Blank Friday per my request.  So…today’s blanks are brought to you by the lovely Faiza of It’s Gonna Be a Lovely Day.  Thanks Faiza!

If any of you want to play along feel free to fill in your own blanks on your blog (or in the comments section) and then link up below.  AND…feel free to e-mail me your questions if you’d like to guest blog for this series.  Let’s play!

Oh…and in case you don’t pick up on it….
Faiza’s chosen theme is school
since summer is upon us :).

1.  The best thing about being in school was/is       being able to skip out when you didn’t feel like going.  Sadly it doesn’t work like that when you have a grown-up job and a mortgage 🙁   .

2.  The worst thing about being in school was/is      HOMEWORK!!!  Ugh!  I was always such a procrastinator!  .

3.  My favorite subject in school was/is       English and History.  But I loved writing and I was an avid reader so I’d say English was “a little more favorite”   .

4.  One subject I wish I could have mastered/would like to master is       Spanish.  My mom speaks Spanish fluently and I took it in school, but just when I got decent at it, I had to quit so I could take the classes I needed to graduate on time.  Ironically
Spanish would’ve been way more valuable than those other stupid required classes.  Maybe one day I’ll learn  .

5.  I could never get tired of studying     History – namely WWII.  I’m fascinated by it.  I just can’t wrap my head around how so many people went along with such a huge atrocity – it blows my mind   .

6.  The most memorable teacher I had was      Mr. Arend – my history teacher junior year of high school.  He sparked my interest in WWII.  He was so passionate about it and about teaching us about it so that the awful history could never repeat itself.  I remember he even teared up one day as he talked about it and I’ve never forgotten that   .

7.  If I could choose between going to school for the rest of my life or working for the rest of my life, I’d choose      work.  I hated homework.  A lot.  BUT…if school meant just learning for the love of learning sans homework, I’d be all over that      .

Thanks for submitting your questions Faiza!
Happy weekend you guys!

p.s.  check back tomorrow for part 1 of my California trip!

  1. I would love to have mastered spanish too! I took 2 years in high school and 3 years in college. I should have at least gone for the minor. My dad really wanted me to choose Spain over Australia when I was choosing where to study abroad, but how could I pass up Aussie accents and kangaroos?!

  2. Ha, I had to steal something from you Lauren…the WWII part. 🙂

    Happy Friday.

    xoxo

  3. ahh how I long for the days of staying home just because I didn’t feel like going to school…and we had like 15 days/semester we were allowed! If only that could transfer over to the workforce 🙂

  4. I’d choose work too. I’m not into studying nearly enough to want to be in school the rest of my life.

  5. This was such a fun one! Happy weekend, Lauren.

  6. oh i would totally choose work over school too!! i hated homeword too!! 🙂

  7. oh i have such a special place in my heart for all of my history teachers. can’t wait to play along for the first time. thanks for picking my questions. happy weekend!

  8. I loved Mr. Arend! He was one of my favorite teachers from Putnam, and he would always ask my younger brothers how I was doing even after I had left school.

  9. maybe i am just a big nerd but i <3 school!

  10. I second the love of Mr.Arend. Such an amazing teacher. So weird the things we remember, “Warsaw, Poland; Prague, Czech!”

  11. You know, I think the same thing all the time about how it was not a huge deal to skip class, but I’d get fired if I skipped work. *sigh* I miss those days!!!
