i’m back.

Hi.

I’m back.

I really enjoyed my break.
While I was away I decided a couple of things:
#1:  I’m not going to be blogging every day anymore.
It’s just too much pressure.
I’ll probably still blog most days,
but I’m not going to feel guilty
about missing a day here and there.
Hope you guys understand.
AND….
#2:  I really like working out.
During my break I totally worked out like a fool.
-I walk/ran a 5K.
-Did Zumba like five times.
-Weeded for 5 hours/until I thought my arms would fall off (that’s totally exercise!)
-Ran on my lunch breaks (as much as I possibly could when cramps/rain didn’t hinder me).
-Ate healthy without being on a diet.
Basically I’m feeling great.  Life’s been stressful, but I’ve been making a healthy lifestyle a priority.  I think the endorphins are doing me good.  In addition to all the exercise, I’ve been following “The Naturally Thin Lifestyle”.  I just finished reading the book “Naturally Thin” by Bethenny Frankel and it’s so great!  I’m totally never dieting again and so far I’ve lost 8 lbs. in about a month.  It’s all about moderation and the fact that no food is “forbidden” makes my heart sing.  I can eat steak, bread, dessert….whatever I want.  I blogged about this book a few weeks ago, but seriously, if you’ve been a yo-yo dieter, a binge eater or whatever other unhealthy eating habit you may have had, this book just puts a fresh perspective on all the “rules” you’ve already heard before.  Bethenny makes it seem do-able and I love that.  READ IT!
Since I’ve been doing so well I decided to reward myself with a new pair of kicks for Zumba.  Nike Huarache Lows.  The cutest dance shoes I’ve seen….WAY better than Nike’s last attempt at dance shoes.

Aside from working out and getting new shoes my weekend was pretty dull.  Painted kitchen cabinets, weeded and other boring household tasks.  We did manage to go see Robin Hood though, which I was a bit surprised to enjoy so much.

What did you guys do this week(end)?

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Glad to hear good things about the book, I’ve been wanting to read it.

  2. Welcome back 🙂

It was great to read such an energetic positive post on this dull rainy Tuesday morning!

I was surprised to enjoy Robin Hood, too! But it was a great film to see in the cinema with the exciting music and wild scenery!

  3. I am so glad you are back! I am also glad that you took this break and came back renewed and refreshed. I am definitely going to read Naturally Thin since you just returned it to me. :)I am glad that you got the chance to read it and implement it in your life, I hope to do the same. It has been fun exercising with you. Thanks so much for helping me to take on the 5k challenge. YOU’RE THE BEST! Love you, welcome back!

  4. Welcome back! Those shoes are AMAZING. Zumba looks like fun when I see the commercials on TV. Maybe I’ll give it a chance since a real person has mentioned it :).

  5. I totally understand needing a break!! Blog everyday or once a month…don’t you worry, we will still be here! I have heard such great things about that book!! Glad to hear that your healthy and happy!

  6. You have peaked my interest… hmmm… think I will be picking up that book. Not sure it could make me LIKE exercise! xo

  7. aw love no one expects you to blog every day! when i took my little break i realized i was pressuring myself more than anyone else was:) just remember blogging is totally for you and no one else, we all are just lucky to read whenever you post:) glad you got to relax and work out!!

  8. My weekend was great. Saturday…I did nothing. Sunday, I went to the beach with my family to watch my brother surfing. Yesterday, we went bowling, then we at lunch, we stuffed ourselves. We went to see Prince of Persia, which turned out to be a pretty good movie. After all this, we visited all of our aunts and my grandma. Then, we ate more.
Basically, we pretty much just ate yesterday.

  9. Good girl! Congratulations on so many healthy things, including taking a break from blogging.

What did I do this weekend? Come on over to my blog and check out the biathlon news! Mark and I came in 1st!

  10. Sounds like some good resolutions to me! Good for you for going for things that make you happier. blogging can be stressful! Sometimes I take a day off just cuz. 🙂

  11. Yay, welcome back! We missed you!

I totally know how you feel about posting every day – pretty sure once I start working more and have less time on my hands I’ll probably go back to just posting whenever.

    And cute shoes lady!

  12. glad your back and sweet new kicks! love ’em.

  13. eight pounds… good for you!! keep it up!!

  14. Good for you! 8 pounds? I’m amazed. You’ve got me inspired. 🙂

  15. Welcome back, Lauren! I am LOVING your new kicks!

  16. Glad you’re back! I’m totally intrigued by this book now!!! And congrats on losing 8lbs and getting into a workout routine!

  17. aww! i have been wanting to see that! anyway, so glad you are back and going to blog on your terms and when works best for you! that is they everyone should blog 🙂 i have missed ya girl! and that is so awesome that you lost 8lbs! i want to check out that book! i will never be able to cut anything out of my diet..but i can probably eat less of those things if you know what i mean! i have been feeling my clothes get a little bit tighter lately.. i need to do something about that! anyway, glad you got a good break..you deserved! i love your new shoes!! so cute! i hope you have a great day lovely girl!

  18. That’s awesome that you are feeling so great! I still want to read Bethenny’s book.

  19. Good for you!

  20. Hey Lady,
I’m glad you had a good week off and were able to figure out how to make blogging work for you.
    Have a happy day!
    xo

  21. Yay! Glad you enjoyed your break, and I’m even happier you’re back! I know how you feel about the posting pressure. I try to post Monday through Friday, but last week I wasn’t feeling it, so I didn’t. No post with a reason or an apology. I refuse to feel guilty about it. Life comes first. 🙂

    Love your Zumba kicks! Awesome.

  22. Sounds like a great week! I totally agree with the “Naturally Thin Lifestyle” even though I’ve never read the book – it sounds like how I eat, in general. I find that I feel TONS better if I eat whatever I want when I’m hungry, stop when I’m full (or getting full, really), and don’t eat out. I do need to work on the exercise aspect though. Good for you for working so hard at it!

(I need to try this Zumba thing. I’ve never done it … sounds like lots of fun. We really should get into swing dancing again … just as fun, just as much exercise, and the hubby can do it with me!)

  23. Aw, hey girl! So glad you’re back and feelin’ good!
Don’t ever feel guilty for “missing a day” blogging. It’s not your whole life. Just have fun when you can, and post when you can.
And I totally agree with you on the book. Naturally Thin made me think soo much about WHY I was doing a lot of the stupid things I was doing with food, and I don’t know whether or not I’ve lost weigh after reading it, but I think the very small changes, and the changes in attitude and perspective, are just as great, yeah?

Hope you’re having a lovely day, Lauren!

  24. Good to have you back, and don’t feel guilty about not blogging everyday, this way its easier to follow;)
Those shoes looks so cute, I have signed up for my first Zumba class in a few weeks, and I can’t wait:)

  25. glad you’re back my friend and i’m glad you’ve decided to not put too much pressure on yourself with blogging every day… it’s so much nicer when you blog because you really want to.
i loved naturally thin and try to live by that book as well… and good for you for working out so much – 8lbs in one month! i’m a wee bit jealous – way to go! can’t wait to meet your hot self in real life in a little over a week!

    xo thanks.
    xo thanks.

  26. I think this is my first time commenting here, but I’ve read your blog for a while now! XD

I just wanted to say that I think it’s great that you’re working out. I always feel kind of blah and unmotivated, and then I read Belen’s blog and how she worked out 4 out of 7 days, etc. So last week I worked out Monday – Friday for 1 hour each day! My legs hurt sooooo bad by Friday. I didn’t work out yesterday but I will do my routine Tuesday through Friday and then from now on (after this week) it’ll be mon-friday. I hope!

It always helps me though to read about other people working out and feeling great. It reminds me why I do it.

  27. welcome back, missed you!!
I wish I could take a work out routine, but I hate it to much!!! xoxo

  28. I think moderation in blogging is good, too! haha I might have to pick up that book.

  29. Hey! I feel ya on not blogging every day. I never have, but I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that I never will! Hahaha! Ian and I have been living a lot healthier too and it feels so good! Even though I hate working out, we do it twice a week and we’re eating healthier too! I just wrote a blog about belly flattening that doesn’t involve dieting either… it is based off of an article I read and I was so inspired! Cutest shoes ever by the way!

  30. Oh I love your shoes! & yay for all your exercise! I want to try Zumba! I did the last 1o minutes of a class last week (not realized i’d started at the last 10 minutes – ha!). Can’t wait to take the whole class!

I have been hearing lots about that book. DEFINITELY going to look for it when i go to Barnes & Noble later this week.

I have never thought bad of a blogger who didn’t blog daily. Or even every few days! As long as they don’t go WEEKS w/o blogging, they’re cool in my book! 🙂

  31. Lauren!
I am so glad you are back! I love reading your blog and all the little things you say in here! I don’t care if you blog one time a week or a few as long as you blog at least some!!! You are such a fantastic lady and such an inspiration to me!
    -The other Lauren
    🙂

  32. That’s exciting, go you! I’ve never dieted before, I definitely agree though, it’s about moderation and eating healthy. Your body doesn’t like junk…well, it does, but then it’s a jerk and stores it somewhere you don’t want it. welcome back!

  33. I’m still not exactly sure what Zumba is, but everyone is doing it! like a Latin-inspired dance class?

  34. I think that #1 is a good decision. I always love reading your posts…whenever they are 🙂

Glad you had a nice break!
Laura @ along for the ride

  35. Yay! I get so happy when people go public about not dieting. That book sounds like it has a lot of good common sense tips–perhaps I shall check it out.

Major props on all the activity! You’re rocking it. Love those new kicks, btw!

  36. So glad to see you back 🙂 No pressure at all to blog every day! Blah. I’d die. We enjoy reading your blog whether it’s once a day or once a month!

  37. good for you lauren – that is awesome!! i would love to be able to say that i love working out.. definitely need to work on that!

and i definitely understand not blogging every day. i don’t stick to any set schedule with my blogging, just do it when i feel the urge and have the time. glad you’re back though!

  38. I feel guilty if I don’t blog every couple of days as well- like I need to apologize to my readers. All 18 of them. haha.

  39. I agree it’s FAR too much pressure! Life isn’t meant to be lived in front of the computer! That being said, welcome back! I took a breat too and it was great!

  40. yay I’m glad you’re back! I don’t blog everyday anymore either just because it’s too much pressure and I lose “me” time. I’m glad you’re feeling refreshed and energized. You’re giving me some inspiration to get off the couch 🙂

  41. Gardening absolutely counts as exercise!

  42. Glad to see your back. And so fit! And with such cute shoes. 🙂

  43. glad you are back and glad you feel better! Sometimes all you need is a reminder of what life really has to offer out there. Working out feels amazing too 🙂 I took the weekend off from blogging as well…mainly because of the trauma with our puppies. I updated my blog to let everyone know what was going on, but i didn’t visit many others…it was nice to relax and have a weekend of family time and bonding over our little angels we almost lost.

And do you like zumba? I’m thinking of giving it a try 🙂

  44. Glad to have you back! 🙂

    And those shoes….I want!

  45. Welcome back girl! 🙂

  46. dannnnng girlfriend!
you are rocking it out at the gym!!
which is the complete opposite of what i’ve been doing. so thanks for the much needed inspiration to head on back to the gym! and congrats on the lbs lost!

p.s. glad your back from your blog vacation! and i’m even more glad that life had been great for you!

  47. Good for you! Enjoy REAL life and don’t obsess about blog life :). Enjoy your free time! Oh, and sweet kicks!

  48. Glad you are back Lauren!! Marc and I booked our trip … we will be in Portland July 27-30!!! 🙂 Can’t wait chica bonita! xo And way to go on working out!!!

  49. hooray! glad to see your back and feeling better than ever! i just joined a gym and can’t wait to try out the zumba class, you’ve inspired me!

  50. dude, i love your purple sneaks!!! i could go for those. i HATE wearing sneakers and only have one pair for working out, but those would make it worth it 😀

and girl, don’t feel bad. i cannot believe people who DO blog every day, and i think that’d be way too much stress. you gotta have you-time 🙂
