weekend fun x 2.

So I never blogged about the G-Wagen thing we went to last weekend and it was so much fun that I wanted to blog it still.  So today is a two-for-one special:  last weekend AND this weekend all packed into one post….

Last weekend we headed down to Philomath for a Gelendewagen Treffen.  Treffen apparently means “meet-up” in German and a Gelendewagen is Mercedes big, boxy SUV.  In case you didn’t know we have a G-Wagen.  Not a new one – a 1981 which is pretty much a diesel tank, that surprisingly gets great gas mileage.  Older G-Wagens are pretty rare to see in the U.S. because they were imported from Europe and weren’t made in the states until the early 2000’s.  Thus…when you own a G-Wagen you’re sort of initiated into a little club.  Craig reads these online forums where the owners of these vehicles talk shop which is how we found out about this meet-up.

I thought it was going to be super lame.  I’ve been to one of these things before and I was definitely the token female surrounded by guys talking about the size of their engines using car speak that left me completely out of the loop.  This time was different.  These photos pretty much sum up the weekend.

Gorgeous, right?

Everyone stayed at the most beautiful vineyard (Lumos winery) owned and run by fellow G-Wagen owners and the entire weekend was perfect – tasting delicious wines (Craig doesn’t even like wine and he liked it!), eating delicious food and having fun with new friends.  Here are some more photos from the weekend.

THEN….

This weekend we watched the U.S. World Cup game at a pub downtown.  The outcome was disappointing, but it was a fun experience.  It was my first football game watched in a pub and it definitely helps you get into it more when everyone else around you is.  Craig’s always liked soccer and I’ve always watched the World Cup with him even though it’s not my thing (this is the 3rd one we’ve watched together!), but this year I really enjoyed it!

We also went to a wedding.  One of the couples in our church home community (David and Kim) got married and it was such a fun and beautiful affair.

THE END!

Hope you all had fun
 weekends as well!
