craftiness for a cause.

Ever heard of Kiva?

I hadn’t until Sam over at Post Grad Hair Cut told me about her plan to raise money for the organization.  Kiva is an organization that lends money to aspiring entrepreneurs across the world.  Here is their mission statement:

“Kiva’s mission is to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty.

Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending.”

Pretty great cause, right?

Well, Sam decided that she wanted to raise money for them by making these adorable little sewing kits and donating $5 from every sale to the organization.  These are definitely worth buying if only for the selfish reason that they’re really ridiculously cute, but also for the bonus reason that they benefit a good cause.

So cute.

Kinda makes me wish I could sew.

Also…. make sure to check out Sam’s etsy shop Sam Made to see the other pretty wares she turns out!

Hope you have a lovely day!

  4. There’s a cool place that does this specifically for women who are looking to start some sort of business, mainly in Africa. I read about it in Half the sky, amazing book for empowering women.

  5. Oo. Fun! Thanks for sharing cute things with an awesome message behind them!
