i heart pumpkins.

This weekend we went to the pumpkin patch.
This is one of my most favorite traditions ever.  Craig and I have gone every year since we started dating, so I guess that would mean we’ve gone for the past….3.022…carry the 4….minus 15….. 8 years.  That’s a lot of pumpkins, no?
I really pride myself on my pumpkin-choosing abilities, but not because I pick the prettiest pumpkins.  Quite the contrary actually.  I like to pick ugly pumpkins.  I feel like they’re little orphans that need a home and where better to bring them than to our house?
Here was our pumpkin patching adventure this year.
{cutest baby calf ever.}
 {little baby chickens!  oh yeah.  they’re called chicks.}
 {I want one, but I think Marley would eat it.}
{ugliest pumpkin….check! ♥}
Aside from pumpkin patching, petting baby animals and drinking cider and pumpkin donuts, my weekend included:
*Having a gym date with my mom and then meeting up with my dad afterward for brunch at Bob’s Red Mill.
*Dinner at home with friends – yay for autumnal cuisine and tag-team cooking with Craig! (homemade potato soup, sourdough bread, feta/cranberry/almond salad and apple crisp and vanilla bean ice cream for dessert!)
*Coffee and church with our home community.
*My grandma’s 70th birthday.
*Having a wii dance party at my grandma’s birthday party.  Craig’s threatening to post the video on youtube.  Part of me just wants to post it on here first to get the embarassment over with :).
*Having Jamba Juice and girl talk with my friend Liz.
*Baking pumpkin chocolate chip muffins (here’s my recipe if you’re curious).
*Painting my nails red.

What did you guys do this weekend?
Did anyone get their pumpkins?

Happy Monday!

xo

  7. we have a pumpkin farm & I love everyone’s posts about going to pick their pumpkins. (we pick all of ours & sell them to a retailer). Next year everyone can come to Ohio & pick pumpkins at our house because my back & legs & arms are sore! Atleast its good family time.

  9. ok. First off, you can tag-team autumn cook for me any day — I think I may just have to recreate your meal this weekend — adding the pumpkin chocolate muffins of course! And second, I can’t wait to see the carving of that ‘special’ pumpkin!

  10. My favorite tradition is going to the pumpkin patch too! I’ve had so many happy memories there and was so happy to share them with Ravi, too!

    Your dinner sounds amazing! I would eat up every bite of it!

  14. sounds like a fantastic weekend! this past weekend was my birthday and it was great – filled with good food, friends, love, and football. (i wore a tshirt and jeans by the way – still haven’t picked out my fancy dress/skirt game day outfit yet! 😉 )

  15. cute cute cute post : ) Loved the pictures, especially the overhead one of you and Craig in the pumpkin patch.

    I must say that I adore your orphan pumpkin. It was sweet of you to snatch the little guy up and give him a loving home. I may have to adopt your pumpkin choosing method from here on out : )

    We had fun with you guys this weekend! Look forward to seeing you tonight friend.

  16. I want to go to a pumpkin patch so bad! I love pumpkins and need them to grace my doorstep soon!

  17. oh that little chick is so cute!

  18. I *love* that you pick the ugliest pumpkin. That is something I would do, you know, if I went to a pumpkin patch. Do you know I’ve never carved out a pumpkin before? I think I might just do it this year, for Halloween. 🙂

  19. Lauren! Lee Farms right? We were there Saturday and took pictures with the cute baby cow (which had poop all over it’s butt, though it looks clean in your pic so I’m guessing you went Sunday lol) and I held a cute baby chick too! We resisted the donuts but they smelled amazing though. Crazy! Hopefully Ill get my post up sooner than later. Small town 🙂

  20. I pick the ugly pumpkins too!!! :)!!!

  21. I’m just hanging on every word you said about that food. All of it sounds amazing!

  22. Such sweet pictures!

  23. I just happened upon your blog and love it. Your style is great and all your talk about fall things is making me miss the states (I’m in Rome right now for school, which is wonderful, but they lack the fall season) I now am on a hunt to find pumpkin and chocolate chips so I can make those muffins. They sound wonderful.

  24. I’m so jealous. I’m right in the midst of midterms, and midterms in grad school are WAY harder than in college!

    I wish I could go choose some pumpkins. I heart pumpkins too. In fact, that was the title of one of my very first posts when I first started my blog, a little over a year ago! 🙂

  27. I sure had a great weekend with you. I love your pumpkin patch pictures. Thanks for sharing such a fun weekend with us.
