this is it.

If ever I wanted a riding boot, this is it.
I am currently day dreaming about the possibility of one day bequeathing these Frye Riding boots to my inevitably chic offspring (haha!).  They are exactly the kind of fashion staple I wish my mom had hung onto and passed down to me, as they will most definitely withstand the test of time.  I could see these being chic in the 1970’s, 2010 and beyond.  These are perennials.

Now….if only I could convince Craig that that $498 price tag is worth it…. I’m sure the price per wear would be substantially lower if you look at it that way, but it’ll probably never happen.

What would you consider to be a perennial fashion staple?
What fashion related piece would you find worthy of spending $498?
Would you spend that much on anything fashion related?

  1. Remember that Friends episode, where Monika convinces Chanler to buy the boots for her that she LOVES and they cost so much, but then they are SOOOOO PAINFUL! and she doesnt want them at all 🙂

  2. i love those boots, and for years i’ve wanted a pair of fryes. there is no way i could ever spend that much, though, even though the price per wear would be low as i wear boots everyday. i know chris would probably kill me in a fit of rage when he saw the credit card statement!

    good luck convincing craig!

    xoxoxo!

  3. Oh those are cute! No answers to your questions, I’m in a rush today, but those boots are awesome!

  4. 1. I love those boots.
    2. Yeah, the price tag is a little steep but totally worth it for good quality boots!
    3. I’m a graduate student so nothing seems worth $500, especially fashion…however, if I was going to spend $500 I would want it to be on fashion!
    4. I dream of someday being able to spend $500 on fashion without batting an eye. haha

    Oh to dream!

  5. I love my Frye boots…just think of it this way…you could wear them forever. That calculates to be pretty cheap per wear. If you are going to get a pair of boots I would recommend Frye!

  6. i have been dying over the thought of someday owning a pair of Frye boots for years now. someday i am hoping i will have an extra $500 laying around so i can indulge.

  7. I love these boots, but they are too expensive for me 🙁 I’d have to wait for them to be on sale.

  8. these are so gorgeous! but what a price tag!

  9. Keep your eyes open at DSW or Piperlime. I used to work for DSW and we often times carried Frye boots of course at discounted prices. They were still in the $100 range but I believe that sometimes, especially if you’re often a frugal shopper, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with investing in great items for your wardrobe that will last a lifetime. 🙂 happy dreamin!

  10. Lauren they are $265 at Nordstrom right now…Chris bought me a pair of Fryes for Christmas a few years back and I’ve been meaning to do a blog post on how yes, they are expensive but SO SO SO worth it! Everyday I love my Fryes a little more and everytime I look down at them I smile because they are so cute PLUS the more you wear them the better they look. The original price is a little steep (ok a lot steep) but the sale price is amazing for these! If this is the only present you get for the next year, you won’t regret it!

  11. I don’t think i could ever spend that much on any one thing unless it was furniture or an appliance or somethings. but that’s just me! i guess for a perennial fashion statement I’d having to go with leggings paired with oversized shirts/sweaters. I know that was big in the ’80’s and I’m definitely wearing them today… Although it’s probably a little bit “last season” at this point.

  12. i’m not much into riding boots (yet, lol), but those are awesome. yes, i’d spend $498 on fashion related items – but for me, that means a coach purse or a tiffany jewelry. otherwise, they all go to travel funds 🙂

  13. p.s. check out charlotterusse.com! They have a bunch of different riding boots in similar colors for around $40! they might not last long enough to give to your daughter, but it’s not like you’re actually going to be riding in them so they just might!

  14. Those are awesomely amazing!

  15. If I ever had $500 extra dollars to spend, I’d probably put it towards a plane ticket to Europe. I love me some good boots, and totally believe in “investing” in clothes with substantial amounts of money, but my priorities will always be travel first, fashion second! (Unless the “fashion” I’m looking at costs a hundred dollars or less!)

  16. I’m a student so any money I get, I save or try to spend as little as possible. I’m not sure if I’d spend that much on one particular item, but I suppose if it wasn’t going to affect my finances that much I’d probably do it. There are stacks of clothing I’ve got my eyes on, just waiting until I get a good income and BANG I will buy them all…well that’s the dream!

  17. Those are amazing biut only if several ppl got them for me for a present. I could never spend that much! eek!
Ive spent 300 dollars on diesel jeans but i still have them…that was like when i was 21 and dumb. but they are awesome and cool.

you have great taste in a riding boot!

  18. I have been reading your blog FOREVER!! Just wanted to let you know I absolutely love it! I have been looking for some good riding boots too. Why can’t the good ones be a little cheaper:)

  19. my wedding dress was and is the only thing i can ever see myself spending that much or more on. nevertheless, those are definitely cute boots!

  20. If Becca said..they are on sale for $265 at Nordstrom right now than I would jump on it bc really thats a GREAT deal. Also if you get nords debit/mod card(comes out of your checking) and isn’t a credit card you get $20 back if you spend over a $100 and you will get points that add up to coupons and other discounts…I say get them now while you dont have kids and other things that eat at your free money:)

  21. ooo frye boots! the color, the riding style… swoon! i love a good pair of boots, but if i was magically allowed to spend crazy money on a piece of clothing i think it’d be the perfect peacoat!

  22. i don’t own frye boots, but i have a few friends that do and they love them…i’d do it. they are adorable. absolutely.

  23. Oh man, I’ve wanted a pair of riding boots for a while, but I still haven’t found a pair in my price range that I like, but these…these are magical…and no where near my price range. Maybe ebay?

  24. ugh, those boots are GORGEOUS! I can never find boots I love and can afford!
