an uneventful weekend.

Our Halloween was uneventful.
Actually the whole weekend was.

Friday night we got Pad Thai takeout from the Thai Basil cart across the street from my work. We were super excited to come home and eat hot Pad Thai and drink our Thai iced tea, but ended up having to re-heat our meal when we arrived home to a mini-lake in our living room.  The sink from our wet bar (Yes.  We have a wet bar.  Our house is circa 1960-something.  It’s legit like that.) leaked all day.  It was actually a little funny because, Marley thought she was in trouble, like we’d think she’d made the mess (don’t worry – we assured her we weren’t mad).  We set to work removing our rug and mopping up the mess and when we finally finished all we wanted to do was eat dinner and watch DVR’d shows.  We’re super cool.

Saturday we went to Corvallis for an OSU football game V.S. Cal with my in-laws.  OSU beat Cal by a whole lot, so that was exciting.  It was also exciting that it didn’t end up raining nearly as much as had been forecasted.  But, if it had my brother-in-law Cory would’ve been ready :).

We didn’t end up making any plans for the evening and just ended up staying home and doing nothing.  Well…nothing except getting a terrible stomach ache from the Olive Garden quadruple cheese lasagna rolls I had for dinner.  It was actually my 4th stomachache this week and the common denominator has been dairy in all cases.  Really hoping I’m not lactose intolerant, because I seriously love me some cheese…and sour cream….and ice cream….and chocolate milk………..  Hoping like mad that this is not the case.
Sunday we didn’t go to church because I’d stayed up late with the aforementioned stomachache so I stayed in my PJ’s ’til noon reading magazines while Craig watched football.  Then in the afternoon I met with my brother Matt and his fiance Mallory about helping them plan their wedding.  They needed a bit of direction and I was more than happy to help. We laid out a color scheme, food, decor and a few other big details and I’m excited to help them bring their ideas together!  Maybe I’ll whip up an inspiration board soon and share it with you guys.

Our evening consisted of watching Sherlock Holmes while waiting for trick-or-treaters to show up and take the bajillions of fruit snacks I bought for them.  Sadly only two showed up.  That’s what we get for living on a cul-de-sac.  Marley was ready for them too – all dressed up as a little ghost (*note: this only lasted for about 2 minutes).

In retrospect, she sort of looks more like a Klansman than a ghost, which was absolutely not the intent.  It would’ve looked better if I could’ve had the sheet be longer, but she kept tripping on it :(.

All in all an uneventful weekend, but still nice because it was spent with family and it was super relaxing.

How did you spend your Halloween?
Happy November!!!

  1. Marley cracks me up. Too cute! Hope you’re feeling better and I hope that you and dairy can still be friends. 🙂

  2. Glad you had a calming weekend!

  3. Oh man, I hope you’re not lactose intolerant too! My hubby thinks he might be – he doesn’t get horrible stomachaches but whenever he has dairy his stomach definitely gets unhappy. No good.

And Marley looks adorable. I love the Klansman remark – probably shouldn’t be funny but it was nonetheless.

  4. I love cheese and dairy. I hope ya’ll don’t have to stop being friends…that would be sad. Anyways, for Halloween I did homework. But on Saturday night, I went to see Psycho at the Opera House. The St. Louis symphony played the soundtrack instead of using the film’s score. It was awesome.

  5. Haha love your dog’s ghost costume! We only had about four trick-or-treaters.

  6. I have been following your blog and I absolutely adore it!! My husbands family live in Portland and Bend, and he went to OSU. So I love seeing all things Oregon on your blog!! Your posts always put a smile on my face :o) Hope you have a great day!!

  7. We did the same! It was fantastic 🙂

  8. 1) Sorry about your stomach ache! I have a mild lactose intolerance as well and just have to watch my dairy intake. But I’ll NEVER ever give up my ice cream or froyo. NEVER!

    2) Marley was super cute on Halloween even though it was a bit klansman-like. We didn’t dress Mia up but I did put a blue bow on her. She hated it all the same, but I have no intent on removing it. Ha ha ha.

    3) That’s so awesome that you’re helping Matt plan the wedding. If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know. I’d love to pitch in! Can’t wait to see what themes you’ve chosen : )

    4) You’re awesome. That is all.

  9. hahaha, your little racist marley is hilarious. i didn’t think that at first, but after you said it, that was all i could see!

you know, i’m not lactose intolerant, but any time i eat something loaded with cheese, i tend to get a stomach ache, too. i think in my case it’s because it’s just a super high amount of fat and dairy.

    hope you’re belly’s feeling better!

  10. We had a relaxing weekend as well. I don’t see anything wrong with it since our weekends are always jam packed!

P.S. LOVE your dog! That is too cute!

  11. Aw, man, my mother recently found out that she’s lactose intolerant, and it’s been such a bummer. But, you know, even if that is the case, there are tons of lactose-free options out there! Breyer’s even makes a lactose-free ice cream!

And, I would love to see what your brother’s wedding will look like. I’m sure it will be gorgeous!

  12. Marley as a ghost = super cute!!! (I said so on twitter too, but not sure if you saw it.)

  13. Calm weekends like that are sometimes so nice. it totally rained here this weekend too, but the trick or treeters still came out. guess now you have lots of fruit snacks for lunches, which isn’t a bad thing!

  14. I love Marley’s costume! And we had a chill weekend, too. Sometimes they can be amazing. 😀

  15. is it bad that i am laughing out loud at the klansmen remark? poor marley…if she only knew haha

  16. I hear ya about the dairy. Hopefully it was just a one-off situation and you can continue to eat dairy products. I really have to watch my intake.

Marley’s costume still cracks me up!
