a maximalist to the core.

This is maybe my favorite tweet ever.

….mostly because it describes me perfectly.

I adore minimalist designs….(from afar that is).  I would love nothing more than to live in a sparse industrial space downtown, with wood beams and cement floors (in theory).  But I’m just too much of a collector – a curator of little treasures, finder of bits and bobs meant for display.  I am definitely a “more is more” kind of girl.  And I’ve finally decided:  “That’s OK.”

Just the other day I stumbled upon A Collection a Day – and my inner collector was instantly hooked.  It’s the little things, right?

I may have to photograph some of my own
 little collections sometime soon :).

  1. I am trying to be a minimalist. I have to say that moving from the US to Australia certainly helped me live with less stuff in Australia. 2 suitcases to be exact. Of course, I’ve gained more stuff since…but still, I’ve managed to keep the collections to a minimum.

just discovered Fill in the Blank Friday…I participated on a Saturday, hope that doesn’t break ALL the rules.

  2. Oh my gosh I am totally a maximalist! Too funny.

  3. Love the designs. Those would be so cute hung on a wall!

  4. haha, that’s really cute! i am somewhere in the middle of minimalist and maximalist, so i’m always trying to please both sides… my minimalist is always trying to simplify my surroundings and my maximalist is always trying to make sure i don’t get too boring and uncreative.

  5. oh how i love this post!!! i am definitely the same as you – not a minimalist, but adore the look of minimalism. i love to acquire “things” and have a lot of “things”, but display them in a way that doesn’t look tacky or cluttered.

  6. I love so much that you’ve posted this! I am the same way, I admire minimalism, but couldn’t do it – although I have started to think a lot more about the things I do have and about surrounding myself with things that are actually meaningful. Who knows, maybe at some point in my life I’ll come around to minimalism, but right now it’s not for me. Which is okay!

  7. I just found the collection a day blog last week! I”m really bummed I found it at the end of the year — but love looking through the archives.

Also, thanks for sharing this! I haven’t come to terms with the fact that I am a collector too, and it’s nice to see other’s embracing it. Hope you had a a great weekend!

  8. I think I’m a minimalist, but I have “stuff” confined to small areas of the house, like the top of a dresser or one wall. For the most part, I really think less is more.
