outfit post: sister wife chic.

You may be wondering what’s up
with the title of this post….

Well, when this dress from Spoonbread Vintedge showed up in the mail, I excitedly tried it on and while I saw endless styling possibilities, Craig’s first response was

“So…you’re going for the sister wife look, huh?”
(if you’re not sure what a sister wife is here’s the definition –
we’re well versed as we watch Big Love).

Pssssh! What does he know? Apparently he hasn’t heard about the mid-length trend for spring (or the pleats trend for that matter).  I really love this dress – especially with black accessories to toughen it up.  Even Craig had to admit it was pretty cute :).

  1. hahaha I have a feeling my boyfriend would have thought something on the line!
    Its very pretty though!

  2. It would need a flower print for it to have a real sister wife look! 🙂

    Very cute

  3. That dress is lovely!

And, whenever I get my hair into a perfect pouf on top, I tell my husband that I look like I belong on “the compound.” (I am in awe of sister-wife hair).

  4. I love it and those necklaces are perfect!

  5. really cute outfit, thanks for sharing that shop!

  6. I like this outfit…A LOT! Perfect for spring!

  7. Haha! Sister wife — not nice! I think the dress is darling!

  8. It looks so chic and stylish! Love it. Definitely more 1920s/1930s than sisterwife. But what do guys know!?!

  9. l love this dress, it looks so airy and comfortable. and i love the pleating details

  10. Very cute, I love those shoes!

  11. I must admit that I totally glanced over your dress once I saw your shoes! Oh my gosh! I love them! But on a whole you took a simple dress and dazzled it. Well done!

  12. You look so cute! I’m dying for Utah to warm up so I can finally break out some dresses without tights underneath! Also, as a Utahn, I lol’d so hard at the title of this post! Even though the last two seasons I watched ( I still haven’t seen the final) were just eh, I love that show and feel like living here totally let’s me in on an inside joke 🙂

  13. I’m not a fan of wearing mid-length dresses/skirts as I’m short (only 5’2″) and I think they make me look even shorter! I like my skirts to hit right at the knee. But this is cute on you! I love the shoes too!

  14. I love the dress & I love the shoes even more! 🙂

  15. haha sisterwife. I LOVE the lower hem lines. I super love that dress and your shoes!

  16. The title of this post made me laugh out loud! To be honest, I was excepting something far less cute, and more like… um, something Nicki would wear. Something accented by a single french braid 😉

You made sister wife chic look HOT!

    Happy Tuesday =)

  18. Very cute! Men don’t understand good style sometimes 🙂

  19. hahaha! craig is hilarious, and i love any sister wife reference! i think the dress is great, and i love it with the coat and necklaces; very modern looking.

    you always look great!

    love you, stylish lady!

  20. I love your shoes! Sometimes after I go shopping and I come home to show Ian what I got, I feel like I have to disclaim everything because a lot of what I pick out is pretty ugly on the hanger and he has a hard time visualizing things. I’m like “I know this is a really bright purple but I think it would look really good with a plain white shirt and a bold necklace!” and he’s just like “Oooooh.” Hahaha. Idk. Husbands are weird!

  21. yessss. pleats are great! I don’t understand why your husband says “sister wife style” like it’s a bad thing. so odd!

  22. Those shoes are to DIE for!

  23. I’ve wanted a pleated dress for so long now! This looks so great on you.

  24. I love this dress and think Craig is off base, except I have a feeling Jus would say the exact same thing!
Your shoes are way too cute! Love, love, love.

  25. Silly boys! You could always pull a “One Dress a Day” and modify the top? But it looks great 🙂

  26. LOVE the shoes, the dress it cute too, you pull it off. LOL to the sister wife comment, that’s pretty funny.

  27. I LOVE THE LAST SHOTS OF YOU!! AND I LOVE THE DRESS WITHOUT THE JACKET BECAUSE IT LETS THE DRESS JUST BE. You are so lovely Lauren … as a friend and as a fashionista!! XO!

  28. Love the look and you carry it off very well. Got to go and check out the sister wife defition.
    Happy week!
