too bad the weather here sucks.

Today it hailed.  A lot.
Not cool Oregon.

I’m beyond ready to shed my layers and don spring fashions, but instead I’m cozied up in my wool army blanket wearing a sweatshirt while local meteorologists toy with the idea of snow.  Seriously….snow?  It’s April.  If the weather here didn’t suck so much, this is what I’d be wearing (….in my dreams of course, where my unlimited pocketbook resides….*sigh*).

{This entire set I created with Polyvore….I forgot how much fun that site is.  I’m obsessed with this dress –  spotted on Pinterest courtesy of the lovely Honey Kennedy}

{This outfit – without having to wear a cardigan over the top! I’m seriously in love with these J.Brand Jeans ever since seeing them on Emily Henderson during last week’s episode of “Secrets from a Stylist“}

{Sandals can be overly casual, but I love these from Free People}

{This perfectly simple throw-on-and-go summer dress from J.Crew}

{This swimsuit….if I ever wore swimsuits….in Oregon there’s rarely an occasion for such attire…but if there was….}

{A lacy top + yellow shorts…if I liked shorts that is…this is a lot of “ifs”}

{This dress from my new favorite online shop}

Oh…and in case you were wondering….I checked theweatherchannel.com just now and it said that later this evening I can expect it to be 37 degrees with rain/snow showers.  On days like today I need to remind myself that I really love Portland….I really love Portland….I really love Portland.  Hmmmm…. somehow I thought that repeating it might help me cheer up about the weather, but no such luck.  I’ve lived here my whole life, and I’ve never gotten down about the weather until this year, so hopefully it’s just a fluke and hopefully the sun decides to show it’s elusive face sometime soon.

How’s the weather where you’re at?
(*Note: This is addressed to cold weather commiserators only.  If it’s sunny where you live and you’re currently wearing any of the following: shorts, skirts with bare legs, open-toed shoes or swimsuits, please don’t tell me, because I think I just might cry.)

  1. I definitely am feeling you on this one! I, too, live in the Valley and my gosh. Hail, rain, sunshine. More rain, a little snow mixed in, sun, rain. Yes, definitely NOT cool.

    Let’s do a little sun dance, shall we?! 🙂

  2. I totally feel you.. we are stationed in Washington and it sucks!! I am from Florida so I need sunshine.
    Another note I love the outfits you posted 🙂

  3. Aw I hope spring arrives for you soon. The colder weather has definitely started to set in here in New Zealand!

  4. It is crappy in Ohio too, I am ready for spring, and skirts, and bare legs, I am over wearing a giant coat to work everyday and defrosting my car.

  5. Here it’s sunny… But I don’t want summer to come here so soon. Summer is hell in Seville (Spain).
    I love that swimsuit and that turquoise ring!!

  6. ugh hate the rain and hail too here 🙁 plus they’re talking about SNOW! gah it’s APRIL! hello! where is the SUNSHINE! xo at least your blog always puts a smile on my face!

  7. i feel your pain! in oh, so lovely pittsburgh it was snowing yesterday!! we’ve had a few teasers of nice weather, but i’m still waiting anxiously for bare-leg dress weather!

    xo.anna marie

  8. I love the ice blue dress with lime shoes combo; so fresh! Also, the lace top and shorts is perfect for a grill-out with friends. Thanks for sharing and here’s to wishing you some sun. =)

  9. TERRIBLE in Michigan. It poured yesterday and rained and hailed this past weekend. I am so over it.

  10. Oh my goodness thanks for sharing that oh joy store one, LLOOVVEE!

  11. I am praying we’ve seen the last of the snow here. We’re getting 40’s and 50′ and sun so hopefully it stays that way!

  12. haha! It’s baaaaarely getting warm here in Michigan, and only for fleeting moments. I can totally empathize.

  13. lol. I am so sorry love for the awful weather!!! We *were* having lovely weather, then something happened. We are expecting rain for the next several days. The weather around here is very teasing. One day it will be sunny and beautiful the next it will be rainy and dreary.
    I am sure it will be Spring/Summer before you know it!!!
    BTW I love all the pretty outfits!! 🙂
    Have a wonderful day friend!!
    xoxoxo

  14. I love your picks especially all things yellow, I am having an obsession with that color lately…
    Have a nice day, C.

  15. I love Joy, didn’t know they had an online shop! And the weather in London is surprisingly balm, really beautiful for once 🙂

  16. What?! I can’t believe it hailed on your side of Portland because here in Beaverton it was sunny/partially overcast all day yesterday! Also, I think you need to plan a vacation so you can wear that swimsuit because it is way too cute to pass up!

  17. I’m with ya… Portland is a beautiful, lovely city but I’m ready to see it in the sun again! I’m glad the summer is always so nice that I can forget how bad the rest of the seasons are!

  18. Oh the weather here (Seattle) sucks even more, I think. I grew up outside of Portland & lived there for basically my whole life, so you think we’d be used to it by now, right?! It’s been nothing but gloom & doom here lately 🙁 Crossing my fingers we get even the slightest bit of sun!! :-/

  19. Ugh, I’m SO sick of the rain and gray skies! I mean, I know it rains in April, but shouldn’t we at least get weather over 40 degrees? My brother-in-law up in Battle Ground said it snowed there yesterday.

  20. I didn’t watch the news at all yesterday and I was totally confused when I noticed one of my neighbors had a giant snowman in their front yard. It didn’t snow near my house, but apparently it did snow not too far away in slightly higher elevations. I guess that family made the most of the cold weather and decided to truck snow down for the kids to play in.

  21. It’s freeeeeeezing up here in Seattle. And last night I drove to the East side (Issaquah/Sammamish highlands area), and it SNOWED. I had to brush off my car. Booo.

  22. I love Portland toooooo! Just keep thinking of how amazingly perfect our summer weather will be. We’ll all be dancing in the streets! xoxo

  23. Our weather was reminding me of Oregon for the past month or so. Northern California and I had a serious conversation about it, because HELLO – this is partially why I don’t LIVE in Oregon anymore 🙂 I think it worked, because it’s sunny now!

  24. This will make you feel better. Our weather in Utah is always colder than Oregon in the winter. It’s supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow. Oh, and it snowed and hailed all day Sunday. I’m wishing for spring too!

  25. Nice outfits 🙂
    I live in Vancouver, Canada, so I feel your weather pain!! We’re grey and rainy for about 10 months of the year.

  26. Sending you warm sunny thoughts 🙂

  27. Move to Kansas! The weather’s great here. Spring is the best. We’re already consistently hitting 70 and 80 degree temperatures. Weeeeeee!

    Miss you friend.

  28. I am seeing J Brand bandied around all over the place… and I am loving them… I may have to invest in a pair when I’m in Nth America this summer!

    Boo about the weather… hope Spring springs soon!!

  29. Ok…I won’t tell you what I’m wearing, as I’d hate to make you cry….but I love, love, love the first dress!

  30. Lauren, I am mad at you. I want everything in this post. All of it.

  31. Ahh the weather has been super crappy in Boston too. We finally have some warm days in the forecast coming up thankfully! Can’t wait for summer!

  32. It’s been very cold & rainy here lately. This weekend is supposed to be 70 but then it’ll go right back to cold yuck! I’m ready for some consistency & warmth in my weather.

  33. I think Mother Nature reads your blog… from where I was in Portland today was a beautiful (if a bit chilly) day with sunshine and NO SNOW!!

  34. I’m in Seattle and I agree this April weather is PAINFUL. Where is the sun?! Love your outfits.

  35. The weather is COLD and rainy!!!!! Love these outfit selections friend. MISS YOU and I am already planning a visit after graduation. XOXO!

  36. That first outfit! Want!

  37. I gotta say it’s nice to hear others who feel the same way. I live in Boston. Cold and rainy April is the worst month of the year – truly, worse than February. But today the sun is shining and my crocuses are blooming, so I can tell that the warmer weather will eventually come our way!

  38. Oh I want those sandals!

  39. I looove those sandals!! beautiful.
    Cheer up.. last weekend we got 1 foot of snow in calgary… i put pictures up inspire-keri.blogspot.com

  40. I am completely in love with the second outfit. In LOVE. I had to pin it. 🙂
