Let’s be honest.
Maternity shoots can be pretty lame.
It’s pretty much always the same. I’m not blaming maternity photographers. I mean….how many ways can you photograph a pregnant belly? There just aren’t a lot of options and it’s not terribly exciting (in my humble opinion)
Well, after seeing this photo shoot over at the lovely blog Bow Tie & Bustle I was proven wrong. The theme was “A Bun in the Oven” conceptualized and styled by Jenn Elliott Blake of Bow Tie & Bustle events and styling and the photos were taken by Monica of Mo Hines Photography. Such a fun shoot! So, without further ado, I give you:

Sydnye from The Daybook just announced that she’s preggo. Her pictures are super cute (her holding whatever her baby is the size of). Today she’s holding a lemon. I think that’s cuter than just the plain shirt-pulled-up-just-over-the-belly progress pictures, but I love THIS shoot as a husband and wife/official photo shoot. So cute and totally you!
I’m not a huge fan of exposing your pregnant belly for photos. I would feel so uncomfortable doing that. I’m not really keen on maternity photos and probably won’t even do it unless someone offered to take them for free or something. I would rather wait until I have the baby and have pictures taken of her. With that said, this shoot is totally cute and casual which I really like.
I actually know someone who took “sexy maternity photos.” Some of them were literally of her crawling on the floor in a black bra and red heels. Sooo disturbing.

Those pictures are super cute…the concept is awesome and I love all the bowl pictures as just cute pictures but if I paid for maternity photos and got a bunch of bowl shots I don’t know if I’d be happy…there prob are more belly shots than we saw but just sayin! Maybe they didn’t even pay for them so it doesn’t even matter. Ok I’m rambling. And I want a cookie now. What time do you take your lunch? We should walk over and come hang out!

Have you seen the maternity shoot that Elizabeth at E tells tales did? It was so cute. And you are correct, there are some horrific maternity shoots out there.
