nostalgic.

Ever since getting pregnant I think I’ve become kind of a sap.

Not the “I cry while watching The Price Is Right” kind of sappy, but just a bit more sentimental in general.  Subsequently I’m feeling more connected to my mom.  I guess I have a new appreciation for that whole “I carried you for 9 months!” bit that she’s pulled on me throughout the course of my life now that I’m experiencing a just a tiny bit of the same discomfort myself (I’m sure I’ll be pulling this on you too one day future baby).

Because of this new connection I’ve been feeling to my mom, I got super excited when she found some photos the other day of herself and my dad in the hospital the day I was born.  She also found a couple of photos from when I was just a little thing.  My parents look so young and happy.  It makes me excited to have our own little one soon.  Anyway, I thought I’d share the photos with you guys today.

My dad, rocking his 80’s ‘stache and scrubs before my mom’s c-section.

My mom holding me for the fist time. She said she’s not sure what they put on her forehead.

On my daddy’s shoulders at the beach.

Testing out the water.

Oh man.  Such short shorts!

Hope you enjoyed my little walk down memory lane.
Thanks for letting me be a little sappy :).

  2. Being pregnant and a mother definately makes you more sappy! It will never go away! Haha!

It’s a temperature probe on your moms forehead. We use them in the operating room! Like a stick-on thermometer.

  3. I have a feeling this will happen to me…

  7. Isn’t it wonderful how with age you start to appreciate your parents as real people? And remember how young and excited they were?

  8. I LOVE how men’s shorts were shorter than women’s back in the day:-) It’s crazy to think that someday OUR kids will be looking at hospital pictures. Eeeek! xoxo

  9. Those are so sweet! What ethnicity is your mom? She’s got gorgeous skin tone! That sappy-ness never goes away.

  10. I love the photos! I’ve become even more close to my mom since getting pregnant as well… I don’t know, I think it is because she has done all this before with me and my siblings and I feel like if anyone is going to have good advice and will understand it will be her! I’ve really loved this time with her… I wish she lived closer to me! Thankfully she will be visiting soon and I’ll get to share some of this experience with her!
