apparently our weekends revolve around food.

This weekend there was a lot of eating.

Friday night:
Take-out from Jade Teahouse in Sellwood + the season finale of Project Runway.  I must say I was quite pleased with the results.  I didn’t take any photos of my food, since it was takeout, but I will say that the hum bao there is delicious and definitely worth ordering if you ever go there.
Saturday:
Drinking chocolate flight at Cacao with Lisa.
The cinnamon tinged drinking chocolate was my favorite.
Later we went to McMenamin’s Kennedy School with our friends Jake & Casey.  We saw “Planet of the Apes” while eating burgers and tots on comfy couches.  Food + friends = awesomeness.
For dessert we went to Salt & Straw and has the most delicious ice cream.  None of us had been before, and after finally jumping on the band wagon, we were not disappointed.  Our understanding ice creamer obliged me by giving me a split scoop (I’m indecisive and wanted to try two flavors, but only wanted one scoop) of Honey Balsamic Strawberry with Cracked Pepper….AND…..Almond Brittle with Salted  Ganache.  SO good!

Sunday:
Breakfast with my parents at Screen Door.
We of course got the chicken & waffles.  It’s a must.  And we had fun hanging out with my parents.  They’re always fun :).
Phew!
Now I’ve got a massive belly….a food baby + a baby baby.  Not my most nutritionally balanced weekend ever, but sometimes you’ve gotta live a little.  And I know of no better way to share life than by eating delicious food with the people you love!
How did you spend your weekend?
Did you eat anything exceptionally delicious?

Oh…and Happy Halloweeen…by the way!  I’ll make sure to post my outfit tomorrow.  I’m not sure any of you will know what I was, but that’s ok…my pre-schoolers are going to love it!

  2. Mmmmmm everything sounds wonderful! On Sunday we had a homemade meal with friends consisting of wild caught salmon, beets, butternut squash, and broccoli. It was delicious!

  4. YUM. Looks delish!

  5. just started following your blog! I love it! I’m the same way, all i did this weekend was eat, eat, and eat some more!

  6. Fun times!

John and I laid low this weekend. We mostly stayed in, except for a brief walk on Saturday. We kept our Sunday pizza party tradition alive, of course, and continued a fairly new one by watching Malcolm in the Middle on Netflix. It’s a riot!

    Miss you big! Hugs.

  7. Weekends revolving around food are the BEST! Happy Halloween!

  8. It was a food filled weekend for us too! I keep telling Daniel I’m gonna eat whatever I want until the baby comes, and I am so keeping that promise:-) xoxo

  9. Lauren!!! Those food places sound RIDICULOUS. Can we go to all of them!?

  10. I love the Screen Door, I just hate waiting in line! Also, I’m so glad Anya won Project Runway!

  11. I’ve come to accept that my life too revolves around foo 🙂 It’s not too bad as long as I keep my waistline in check [typed as I shove pizza in my mouth at 10p]

That ice cream sounds insane! I love untraditional flavor pairings. The drinking cocoa sounds amazing too – we had none place in Salt Lake that was really known for it’s drinking chocolate but unfortunately they closed last year. Time to begin the hunt again!
