blogging fail. mommy win.

SO….
I’m sure that by now, any of you who headed over here looking for your Friday usual… Fill in the Blank are being met with disappointment and wondering,
“Where are the blanks?”
Well…
There aren’t any this week.
I’ve just been busy with being a mom – no other excuse than that.  Instead of coming up with them yesterday, I just took a break and laid on the floor and played with my baby.
It was a total “blogging fail”, but definitely a “mommy win”, because look what Fern learned….
She was totally into holding this ball!
I know that for those of you who aren’t parents yet, this probably isn’t that cool, but for me, it was.  I was just realizing that while I was busy trying to fulfill all of my blogging obligations, Fern was missing out on real, focused time with me.  Obviously we spend all day together, but a lot of the time I’m not really “present”.  A lot of times I’m playing on my iPhone or one-handed blogging and I’m missing out on these fleeting moments with her.
So instead of scrambling in the early hours to put together some blanks this morning, I’m just going to be real and tell you that I’m not one of those super-blogger-moms who can simultaneously whip up a craft tutorial and bake cookies, while one handed-blogging AND nursing their baby.  It’s just not gonna be me and I’m ok with that.  Fern comes first.
Does that mean I’ll never be doing blanks again, or that I’ll be shirking my Friday blanks on a regular and unpredictable basis?

NO!
It means I’ll try to be more organized and get them done earlier in the week from now on, but I hope that for this week, you’ll just give me a little bit of grace.
Thanks guys and I hope you have a great weekend!

xo
Lauren

  9. You chose wisely, lovely Mommy! : ) There is nothing better than time with your little ones. I understand how hard it is to find quality time with them!! Enjoy it and have a great weekend! xo

  10. I have a 10 month old bundle of love and I completely agree that spending time with our little ones takes priority over anything blog related. I created my on Fill in the Blank Friday (using some of your past posts) and I’m totally happy with that. Enjoy your little one…it goes way too fast!

  11. I’m proud of you! And I respect what you’re doing SO MUCH. Be present with that precious baby girl of yours! She’ll never be as young as she is today again! Enjoy. Blogging can come later!!!
    xoxoxo

  12. I SO understand 🙂 It is more important to spend time with those amazing Littles than any sort of blogging (or even some house word) they learn and grow so fast! I blows my mind 🙂

  13. Lauren! Enjoy your weekend and your beautiful baby. We’re not going to hate you because you got too busy one time. 🙂

  15. Look at that sweet girl! We have one of those balls too (somewhere) and Olivia has loved it.

  16. You clearly made the right choice. And who could blame you for wanting to spend time with such a cutie? Happy Friday =)

  18. Aww, look at Fern’s little popsicle onesie! That’s adorable! And blogging about life should definitely take a back seat to living it. Have a great weekend!

  19. Hey annonomous, why don’t you grow a pair and use your real name? Maybe then we can all see who this ridiculous person is who thinks they know what being a new mom is like but has no clue. Also maybe you need to get a real life and focus on your real relationships that don’t involve keyboards so that someday if you have children they can learn to talk to a real person. How bout that? How rude. I’m in shock. Love you Lauren. 🙂 don’t even think about deleting this!

  20. This is pretty much an epic mommy win, for sure. This just means we adults have to find something else to do.. not like we don’t all have something to occupy our time with. 🙂 Enjoy that baby, momma.

  21. No apologies needed, being a momma is the most important job there is 🙂 And with Fern being so darn adorable, I don’t blame you one bit for wanting to squeeze in some extra play time!

  22. Don’t feel bad 🙂 I love that you said you won’t be one of those do-it-all mommy bloggers. Be real, people will appreciate that much more.

Ignore the haters. They have bad grammar.

    😉

  23. Hey “Anonymous” maybe you should take some of your own advice and “don’t be so insulting”…you could have offered to write some blanks for Lauren (she is always asking for volunteers) in the time it took you to show us your true colors. You pretty much just insulted every mom ever in the history of the universe. Way to go…but you know what it’s like right? You truly won’t know until you are a mom yourself…it’s not possible for you to even comprehend right now.

Lauren I’m so glad you took time to enjoy Fern and helped her learn to hold onto the ball…I’m sure she loved some mama time! Eventhough we didn’t even need an explaination as to why you weren’t doing the blanks today, I’m glad you took time to show us that you are REAL! 🙂 I’m sure supermom’s are only interesting on their blogs. You my friend are a genuinely interesting/awesome/friendly/honest/funny/amazing lady in real life just as you are on your blog…don’t let the d-bags (who don’t even know you) get to you! 😉 Can’t wait for hangout time!

  24. Good for you pretty friend. =)

  25. There is no better excuse for not blogging! Enjoy all the time you can with her! Kids are awesome!

  26. Mommy and Baby win! Good for you for having your priorities straight.

    W. 🙂

  27. Wow “Anonymous…”

If you have never had a baby YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE. Period.

I will never know what its like to be a woman, because I am a man. So try and justify your cruel statements and think you understand every situation, but don’t hide behind that “anonymous” tag and throw darts. If you have something mean to say about my wife then do as your mother taught you and keep it to yourself.

  28. Please do not feel bad. Missing out your child’s milestone is much bigger deal. That moment cannot be fulfilled by any means. I am happy to see that you are real and you shared with us what is truly happening in your life. Thank you:)

  29. Good for you, choosing to make memories over blogging. You will never regret that decision. Blessings for a wonderful new week!
