Dear Fern,
This weekend you wore the cutest little rainbow romper. It was absolutely adorable on you, because rompers are precious on babies, but it made me remember a time when I bought a romper as a grown-up.
It was about two years ago and rompers were a trend at the time. I promptly went out and bought one even though it was less than flattering on my body type. I wore it approximately one time and never even left the house in it, because it just wasn’t a good look for me. No matter how cute it looked in magazines, the romper trend just wasn’t for me.
The moral of the story is:
Don’t fall prey to trends that don’t work for you.
Following fashion and dabbling with trends is part of the fun of being a girl and I can’t wait to see you develop your own sense of style, but never lose track of yourself and what looks good on you.
But, in the event that rompers actually do come back in style when you’re older, I’m pretty sure you’re going to be able to rock it with those lovely long legs of yours.

Totally! I don’t like to follow trends in general because it ends up costing too much money to not be able to wear that trendy piece fashionably a couple of seasons later.
Little babies Iike Fern look adorable in rompers but us adults, well depending on the style, we could look like a 12 year old. Unless you pair up a romper with sexy heels and loads of jewelry, rompers should be left to be worn at home or left for the babies to wear.
