the little things craig does: pipe smoking.

My husband Craig doesn’t get quite as much play around these blog parts nowadays since Fern has been born, because let’s face it, grown men with beards are cute, but squishy babies are even cuter.

But, back when I started this blog and called it “The Little Things We Do”, it was supposed to be about all the things we do together…he actually came up with the name for me. But, I rarely share about the things that Craig does, which he endlessly teases me about – he jokingly says I should change the name of this blog to “The Little Things Lauren Does”.

And, so today, I’m starting up a recurring series in honor of my wonderful husband and I’m calling it “The Little Things Craig Does”, cause he’s pretty fantastic and super talented – a jack-of-all-trades if ever I knew one. Maybe I’ll even get him to do a “How To” or DIY post one of these days, since he’s way more clever at things like that than I am. So…here’s today’s.

The Little Things Craig Does >>> Smokes a pipe.

<<< smoking his pipe while doing taxes naturally >>>

I have always loved the smell of pipe tobacco (I even wear pipe tobacco perfume! I promise it doesn’t smell like smoke). Even when I was just a kid, I would go hang out in the pipe tobacco aisle at the drug store, just to take in the earthy, vanilla tinged smell. It was my idea of what heaven would smell like, though my mom probably thought I was weird.

I always imagined Craig smoking a pipe while we sat on our front porch together, but he always refused my request to take it up, because he hates the smell of smoke and has never smoked a cigarette in his life (Nor have I – I did smoke a cigar though…).

We have a some friends who smoke pipes though now and his own brother smokes one, so one day one of our friend’s bought him a corn cob pipe and while we were over for dinner the men folk went out to smoke their pipes and from then on he was a convert.

He doesn’t smoke his pipe often, but I always think it’s so cute when he does – a burly beard and the smell of pipe tobacco are irresistible in my opinion.

  1. My husband was just saying he wanted to start smoking a pipe. I told him the day we have a house and a fire pit, he’s allowed to. 🙂

  2. A man doing taxes is just plain sexy! Lol

  3. Ya know, I don’t think I’ve ever smelled pipe tobacco – now you have me curious.

  4. I love the smell of pipe tobacco! I’ve tried smoking them and they just don’t taste how they smell.

  5. My hubby used to smoke a pip in college when we were dating and I find it a turn-on haha and I love the smell. I don’t know what ever happened to his pipe, i think we need to get a new one.

  6. My husband smokes cigars every once in awhile, I do NOT care for the smell of those though.
