my favorite thing about today #31.

My favorite thing(s) about today were….

{finding these little guys.}
I hung out with my friend Liz today.  And while we were out we had some very bad coffee and some very good conversation.  I also found these cute little white ceramic birds.  I was so excited!  They are now being added to my “white shelf”.  see below.
{my “white shelf”.}
AND….

{watching this with my mom.}

I LOVED this movie!  Amy Adams was so cute as Julie and Meryl Streep did a phenomenal job playing Julia Child.  Now I want to run out and buy “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” and cook up a French feast the likes of which Craig has never seen.  I think I might start with beef bourguignon :).

Watching this movie made me remember to stop and take joy in cooking.  When Craig and I first got married I couldn’t cook to save my life.  Like…I literally screwed up boiling water.  So I was determined to learn how to cook.  And I did.  But, it was definitely trial by fire.  My meals regularly took three hours to prepare – partially because I couldn’t tell which recipes were easy and which were hard, and partially because I was just painfully slow.  After I got the hang of it though, I really began to love it.  For the first three months of marriage I didn’t cook the same meal.  It was something different every day.  But…lately I’ve been feeling more like it’s a chore than anything and I definitely haven’t been putting my heart into my cooking.  BUT… tonight I made Craig a yummy meatball pasta and actually had fun doing it.  As a bonus, he also really liked it.  Yay for cooking!

Now for some exciting news…..

Tomorrow I’ll be hosting a giveaway…I’m extra excited for this one.  Check back tomorrow for details on the pretty prize up for grabs and for details!
