word verification…i hate you.

Dear Word Verification,

I hate you.  You are a huge deterrent in my commenting on blogs.  You make leaving comments on blogs a chore.

Abhorrently yours,

Lauren

In conjunction with my little hate letter to word verifications everywhere, I wanted to encourage you friends……please please please….I implore you (*insert melodramatic tone here*)…. get rid or your word verification!  I moderate my comments, but had word verification on until recently and since getting rid of it have yet to receive a single spammy comment.  Verdict:  word verification makes no difference.  But…on the other hand getting rid of it will make your life infinitely better.  Think it over….  Let’s make the world a better place and get rid of our word verifications!

Anyone care to join me?

xo

  1. i hate it too!
it makes commenting blogs take so much longer

  2. i AGREE! i am not sure if my new blog makes you do this.. let me know lol.. i HATE it too! 🙂

  3. I used to be one of those carefree, let them leave their comments without deciphering words, people. But then I did a post called “Christmas p*rn” and got all kinds of Chinese p*rn comments. And they just kept coming. So I put my comments under lock down. Maybe I can back off now though 🙂

  4. OMG how do i get rid of it! i hate it too!!!!!! ERRRRRR

  5. I’ve always HATED word verification, which is why I’ve never had it on my blog. It’s EVIL!! 🙂

  6. I despise it as well. I always thought I didn’t have it on my blog, but then someone told me that they all of a sudden had to enter a captcha code?? Typepad as fooled me. But hopefully that was a fluke.

Loving your blog sweetie!! 🙂 xo

  7. I agree!
Hey…I just thought I’d leave you a link to where I’m transferring my blog: http://www.littlemissjuicy.wordpress.com
    Hope to see you there

  8. Ha ha ha, I don’t mind it cuz it blocks spam, but I can’t stand when it doesn’t accept my word!

I have a giveaway over at my blog, I’d like to invite you to join…

  9. OMG I HATE them too. I refuse to get them because not only are they annoying but I read a lot of blogs via my iPhone and that dumb word verification makes me life so much harder. Even with the spam I get, I still won’t change it. Blah. So glad you support this hate as well.

  10. I hate itttttt!

I dont think I have it on mine? Do I?

Only fun thing is, is when it gives you a funny word. Makes me giggle 🙂 x

  11. I totally relate. I HATE when I didn’t enter it right… it makes me feel like I am the handicap sign option they give you. bah.

  12. SEEEEERIOUSLY. i haven’t had it on mine since the beginning because i don’t want to have to put anyone through that! it is THE most annoying thing, and i feel happy everytime i press ‘post comment’ and it goes through right away!! thank you!

  13. I am glad that you got rid of word verification. I am so glad that I don’t have to type any of those lame words anymore, thanks lovely!

  14. i recently got rid of my word-verification too, for the same reason. i hate typing in these words! but sometimes they are funny, so i deal with them 🙂

  15. I didn’t even know we COULD get rid of it! Thanks for the heads up 🙂

  16. I concur, I hate it! Sometimes you don’t even realize it’s prevented your comment from posting before you’ve exited the page. It’s much easier to delete the occasional piece of spam (which I’ve yet to encounter) than to make all of your readers waste their time typing silly word verifications.

  17. I concur as well!!!

Please readers, be blogger friendly 😉

  18. yeah so much better without it!

  19. I agree! I don’t have it and I dont moderate my comments…I’m lazy like that!

  20. i like trying to use my word verification word in a sentence that day…since they’re mostly nonsensical.

  21. I’m with you on this one!! Sometimes I won’t even leave a comment on someone’s site if I see they have word verification! It’s just a pain in the big toosh 🙂 Love your blog here!! xx Happy Monday!

  22. i don’t like word verification either. i took mine off a looong time ago 🙂

  23. Seriously. I am so glad I have converted you.

  24. Interesting point. They are kind of a pain…
I’m not try to advertise by blog, but given your interest, you must check out my wife’s post.

  25. I don’t like them, but have thought about putting it on to stop spam comments. So they still get through even with word verification? Hmph.

  26. I’m not a fan of the word verification, but I’ve been considering putting it back. It has only been gone for a week or so and I’ve already gotten several spam comments. They’re just more annoying than word verif. I’ll still hold off for now, though.

  27. Seriously I want to scream this from the rooftops!!!!

  28. Bravo! Excellent post 🙂

  29. I got a lot of spam on my blog. I added word verification. I haven’t had any since.
