fill in the blank friday.

So far my themed “fill in the blanks” have included music and movies.  I’m not sure how much longer I can keep coming up with themes, but  last week someone requested that I take on “books” so that will be the theme for this week.  If you guys have any other theme suggestions, please let me know because, quite frankly, I’m pretty sure I’m going to run out eventually…..
If you’d like to play along, just fill in the blanks on your own blog (or in the comment section!) and then link back here using the McKlinky at the end of the post.
Bon Appetit!

1.  My favorite book growing up was     the “Anne of Green Gables” series.  Oh how I loved Anne with an “e” and her crazy red hair and even crazier antics   .

2.  The funniest book I’ve ever read was     probably “Churched” by Matthew Paul Turner.  It wasn’t so much “funny haha” as it was funny ironic because it was so much like the ridiculously conservative Baptist church I grew up in that I just couldn’t help but laugh.  I don’t generally read funny books, so feel free to send me some recommendations .

3.  The one book that has truly changed my life is      Obvious answer: The Bible.  BUT….as far as novels go, I would have to say “Blue Like Jazz” by Donald Miller.  It completely changed the way I look at my faith in the very best possible way   .

4.  If you’re looking for a real “tear jerker” you should probably read     “The Mark of the Lion” series by Francine Rivers.  Crying during a book is a rarity for me and this one did me in.  I was so sad when I finished reading these books    .

5.  If I could meet any author living or dead I would want to meet    Jane Austen.  I’m curious to know if she’s really as amazing as I’ve dreamt her to be in my head.  “Pride and Prejudice” is my favorite love story and I’d love to just hang out and pick her brain over a cup of tea   .

6.  The next book on my “to read” list is      I actually don’t have a book on my “to read” list.  Any suggestions?   .

7.  If I was snowed into  remote cabin in the woods and could only choose three books to bring with me I’d bring      the “Shopaholic” series.  Such great pleasure reads.  I think there’s four in the series though.  Hmmmm….I guess I’d just have to break my own rule 🙂    .

I’m off to my first fashion show tonight with my friend Jamie and I’m super excited about dressing up and having a girl’s night.  I’ll definitely be blogging about it later.

Hope you guys have a great weekend!

What are your plans?

xo

  5. number one: i too grew up in a ridiculously conservative Baptist church. i always feel an instant bond with others who did the same… there is just too much we could poke fun at. please tell me you went to Awana Club.

number two: blue like jazz is one of my favorite books and was also life-changing in how i viewed Christianity. i really should read it again.

  15. Oh I loved Anne of Green Gables as a kid too. My 3rd grade teacher introduced me to the series and I actually have all the movies as well.

Also in regards to your iPhone shattering, I do understand that is terrible. Hope you get it fixed soon. But do you really take all your photos with your iPhone? I can hardly believe it!

  16. Loved this theme! You could try a vacations theme or a food/cooking one. Happy Friday!

  17. 1. FAVE BOOKS GROWING UP: Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley High, Pen Pals, and when I was even younger the Romana and Little House books.

My fave children’s book was “The Balloon Tree.”

    2. FUNNIEST: Recently I got a real kick out of Kelly Cutrone’s book. She has some great quotes.

    3. CHANGED MY LIFE: I would have to agree with the Bible.

    4. TEAR JERKER: I try to avoid these kinds of books lately. Two that come to mind are “P.S. I Love You” and “Atonement”. I also usually tear up when reading “I Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch.

    5. This is a hard one…still thinking…

    6. Right now I am reading “The Lost Girls” and next will be “Roses”.

    7. I read fast so I would just want to make sure whatever they were they were long to help me pass the time.

  18. Love the book theme, some other suggestions might be food, TV, fashion???

  19. just wanted to say that i love your blog & your pup is adorable! here’s my post: http://c0wgirld.blogspot.com/2010/05/book-love.html

  20. new reader here! what a great blog you have! i can’t wait to read more!! 🙂

  23. I adored Anne of Green Gables. Still do. Anne, Diana, Gilbert, Marilla, Matthew… I love them all! Just working on my Fill in the Blanks post now… Will link up again later.

  25. I love this week’s theme! (Of course I would, I’m an English major and an English teacher. :-D)

    Have a great weekend, Lauren!

  26. I love this Lauren!!!! So, the next yummy read on your list should be A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg …. I devoured the pages and love all the recipes … I am giving away three copies on my blog too. Or, another good read is Water for Elephants or MY LIFE IN FRANCE all together delightful. XO

  27. I loved Anne of Green Gables too! My middle name was Ann growing up till a couple of years ago when I had to change my last name due to family breakdown. So while I was at it I changed my middle name to Anne. It was such a little thing but it makes me smile every time I have to write my name in full.

  28. This is probably my favorite blog post ever! But then again, it is about books… Anyway, I have to agree with all of your answers (except I haven’t read Blue Like Jazz yet).

As for a new book, have you read any more of Francine River’s books? If you haven’t already read it, read Redeeming Love. It is an amazing portrayal of the story of Hosea and I’m pretty sure I cried. Several times. 😀

    Miss you guys!

  29. I’m playing along this week. My answers are at: http://annaemilee.blogspot.com/

  30. I adore adore adore every one of your answers this week! Anne – Yes! Jane – Yes! Francine – Yes! It’s all so wonderful! 🙂 I’m so sad I didn’t do FITBF – but I’m going to do it anyways – I’m only one day late!

  31. I have an idea for a theme for next week’s ( or any future week really) FITB Friday! I love my pet and I know you do too and I’m positive most people who read your blog do too so I think you should have a “pet” related theme! 😀

  32. I was late!! So sorry.

I love the idea of books, so much about a person can be told from what they read!

    http://potter-den.blogspot.com/2010/05/fill-in-blonak-monday.html

  33. okay, i didn’t do the questions…i’m too indecisive on fave books and all! haha. but i recommend reading ‘crazy love’ by francis chan..if you haven’t already. it’s really eye opening.
