coffee. sweet nectar of life.

Portland has the best coffee ever.
It’s science.

OK….besides maybe coffee in Guatamala or Kenya or any of the other places where the coffee beans are actually grown.  The coffee is maybe better there.  Only maybe though.

There are many delicious coffee houses in town.  There’s the obvious Stumptown and of course Heart, but at the moment I am loving Coava.

Every Sunday before church our home community (or basically whoever decides to wake up early enough to get there) meets up for coffee.  This week we went to Coava, which I’d been to a couple of times before, since my internship is right up the street.  This time I actually took pictures though.
{Welcome to Coava.}

{a small, but delicious menu.}

{you can choose your coffee based on its taste notes.}

{our home community…at least some of them.}

This photo has nothing to do with coffee.
I just think my husband is cute.
Especially when he wears cardigans.
And Chuck Taylors.
And steals my hat that looks better on him anyway.
🙂

If you’re looking for a new coffee place to try, definitely pop in.
The coffee is delicious and the space has some of the most beautiful wood working and hand made furniture.  I’m smitten with it all.

Hope you have some good coffee today!

  1. That looks like a really cool coffee shop.

    Here in Singapore, we have kopi, which is coffee sweetened with condensed milk. It’s so good and you can find it everywhere. I had a large iced kopi for breakfast, actually.

  2. That place looks absolutely amazing. I’m moving to Seattle in December all the way from New Zealand, i have heard of Stumptown and know there is one in Seattle, but maybe i will have to take a trip down to Portland to check out the local talent. I am a huge coffee fan working as a barista myself for over two and a half years. I can’t wait to see what America has to offer!

  3. Yum, the Chemex (photo 2) always makes a better cup of drip coffee. I’d have to say I am a bit jealous, as there aren’t very many good coffee houses where I live. Your posts make me want to visit (or maybe live) in Portland!

  4. Oooh, I’m so, so jealous.

    We have lovely little tea shops here in my little Welsh village, but I miss a proper coffee house. The local ice cream shop does a nice latte, but the ambience leaves something to be desired. Give me a shop with a comfy chair, please!

    One thing I seriously miss about living in a city!

  5. that place looks amazing!

  6. That looks like a really fun place to relax over a cup of coffee!! We need more of these in my area!

  7. Lauren that was not nice. You are making my mouth water. I want some coffee.

  8. This definitely looks like my kind of spot

  9. That place looks awesome. I am upset by the lack of awesome coffee places in my hometown. Anything that I like a lot usually ends up closing down so we end up having to go to Starbucks (which I don’t love). I like when my husband wears his chucks also.

  10. I officially need to come visit Portland, if for no other reason than the coffee. 🙂

  11. lol that hat DOES look good on him!! 🙂
    Now I want a hot beverage!
    Have a yummy day!
    xoxo

  12. Looks delicious. Thanks for giving me new ideas for when I go back to Portland. I didn’t get to enjoy it too much last time because I had pnuemonia. I’m looking forward to all this delicious coffee.
