getting back to basics.

I’m sure many of you saw this elopement video over at Design Sponge, but I just had to share it as well.  I love that this couple got back to basics.  Instead of burdening themselves with the financial and emotional stress of a big wedding, they focused on what is most important about a wedding:  the people getting married and the commitment they are making to love each other daily through the good and the bad.  They were also able to incorporate the elements that were most important to them (i.e. pretty flowers, a yummy cake and a surprise guitar serenade for their first dance on the sidewalk out front of city hall – so cute!).  Watch the video – you won’t be disappointed.  And then read more about Jeremy and April’s elopement over at Design Sponge!

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend so far!

  1. That is a perfect wedding! So sweet! I hope that my day (whenever it happens) will be as lovely and special and unique as that one.

  2. so perfect! what a romantic way for them to celebrate their love.

  3. I had not seen this video and I want to Thank you for sharing… it all about the little things… right? Too often the whole affair is a whirlwind turned tornado and the stress of it all takes away from the way it is supposed to be. Kudos to everyone that makes their day… theirs and tosses aside the need to please everybody else.

  4. I’m really in love w/ that video because they had the exact idea that we do, only ours has happened yet. I have my dress, and we are going to NYC to have a wedding to ourselves. After planning a wedding that surpassed our budget, we scratched it all and made a vow to do almost exactly what they did. I said that all I want is my husband, pretty flowers, and cake. I’m so glad we’re not alone on this!

  5. That’s SO neat and what it’s all about!!

  6. Just perfect!!! Loving every bit of it!

  11. That’s so sweet and how it should be. We just got engaged (I’m over the moon) but unfortunately have already had a breakdown because wedding planning can easily become stressful. I really long for something simple and meaningful.

  12. sounds like you got a lot of family and friend time in! i can never decide on just one item either, as far as food goes.

  13. Thanks for writing such a lovely little post about our wedding/video. It was a great day and I’m so happy that the internet-world has been so kind in recognizing there can be beauty in simplicity, even in weddings!

  14. This is so beautiful – thank you so much for sharing it. I’m getting married in a couple years and already I’m stressed about everyone’s expectations…so this is tempting. We’ll see.
