weekend getaway.

This weekend we went to Canada.
We went to a marriage retreat outside of Vancouver B.C.  We ate delicious food and relaxed and checked in on our marriage and how we’re doing.  Here is the documentation of our weekend…
Heading out…
In Horseshoe Bay killing time before we drove to the marina to catch our charter boat to Keats Island.
The leaves were pretty…even the stepped on ones.
Stopping for some fish & chips at Olive & Anchor.  Craig didn’t want fish & chips, but I got grumpy and got my way.  That doesn’t usually happen, but Craig said “Pouters get what they want in this family”.  We think it’s going to be a good rule once we have kids.  Pouting gets you what you want kids.  Learn it now.  Haha! (P.S. I’m being totally sarcastic in case this is getting lost in translation).

The view outside our window.
More pretty scenery.
The dock.

Documenting the weekend with a photo of us.  My belly is ginormous!
 The obligatory one-armed shot.
We went to a bunch of sessions all about marriage and talked about conflict-resolution, personality differences, etc… We learned that our marriage is pretty freaking great.  Sure it’s not perfect, but we both came away from it feeling like we’re doing a lot of things right.  We’re pretty consistent, we fight fairly and quickly and we respect each other’s differences.
One thing that we went over in one of the sessions was personality differences and we took the Meyers-Briggs Personality Type Test.  I’d taken it before, but forgotten what my type was and it was fun to compare them and see how accurate they were for us.
I am an ENFJ (Extraversion, Intuition, Feeling, Judging)
And….
Craig is an ENTP (Extraversion, Intuition, Thinking, Perceiving)
Have any of you taken the test before?
What’s your personality type?  I’m curious.  I wonder if a lot of bloggers have similar personality types?  Maybe not, but it would be interesting to know anyway.

  5. wow, that looks gorgeous! i think i’d go just for scenery and the marriage stuff could just be secondary!

  7. This looks like such a fun weekend getaway!

I love Myers-Briggs! I’m ENFP, and have been trying to figure out for years what my husband is. (Would be much easier to just have him take the test…)

  9. Gorgeous!! We’re thinking about going up there for Thanksiving weekend. Have you been in the winter? If so, is driving sketchy or would you recommend the train from Portland?

  10. beautiful! The scenery, your (so not huge) belly!, and a healthy marriage! Glad you got away before Baby comes!

  11. Ah, I wish I could have been there. Seems like it was really helpful, and also beautiful! I am an ISTJ 🙂

  12. I want to go on a marriage retreat! That sounds awesome! (I just like retreats in general. And marriage.)

The MBT taught my husband and I WHY we disagree and WHERE our conflict starts. We’re pretty close to each other on the first two letters (even when we test differently, they’re bordering the mid-line, example: I’m an “I” but often mistest as an “E”) but in terms of thinking/feeling/judging/perceiving, we’re very different and that’s when we misunderstand each other.

That’s what I like about the MBT, it explains misunderstandings.

  13. What a fun time! Im so glad to hear that you and Craig took the time to go to such a meaningful retreat. You guys have a solid marriage and I pray that it always stays that way.

Love you guys! P.S. We’re sending a baby gift your way SOON!

  14. Looks like a beautiful place. I’m ISFJ.

  15. Can you stop being so cute? You’re making me want to get pregnant again!!!

I would love to get to Canada someday, it’s a beautiful country.

  18. I love personality test — seriously could do them all the time. I always learn so much, I’m a ISTJ 🙂

  19. What a beautiful location for a marriage retreat! I’ve taken the Myers-Briggs before but cannot remember my personality type. I know I was definitely an extrovert. Glad you enjoyed your weekend!

  20. You two are so cute!

  21. It looks like a beautiful place. A marriage retreat is such a great idea. Where did you hear about it?

  27. I didn’t recognize Craig in that first photo. I was wondering why you were taking some photo of a random guy. Then after reading the entire post, I realized it was Craig. Sounds like you guys had an enjoyable weekend in a beautiful setting.
