granola girl beauty.

I’m just not that into beauty products.

It’s not that I don’t like pretty packaging and empty promises of eternal youth.  I do.  I really do.  It’s just that most of the time cute shoes and bags win out over face creams and mascara.  OK….let’s face it….in all honesty I’m pretty beauty challenged.  My favorite product is an $8 can of dry shampoo and if you looked in my makeup bag you’d find little else aside from some Burt’s Bee’s chapstick and a tube of drugstore mascara that is fast approaching it’s one-year birthday.  Kind of sad, but true.  BUT….RMS Beauty is quickly changing my mind about my beauty routine.

I just stumbled onto RMS Beauty while reading Into the Gloss (which in case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t read is amazing by the way!) and I pretty much want everything they sell.  All of their products are natural and organic, which while nice, isn’t the sole selling point for me when buying a product.  BUT….after reading the glowing accolades by multiple sources, I can’t wait to get my hands on some!

Top on my list to try is the Living Luminizer.
Beautiful, glowing skin?  Yes please!
What are some of your favorite prettifying products?
Please share!

  1. i’m not much of a makeup collector either, but i do love my basics and this may just become one of them! i’m thinking of treating myself to an early graduation gift….yea? haha 🙂

  2. Yep I’m all for cheap beauty products, I just don’t have the money for expensive stuff!

  3. Eye cream! If I could walk around with strips of lotion around my eyes I would all the time 😛 I was always a makeup lover, and have gotten even worse (but, in a good way) with make up. However, I was never into the skin”care” part of wearing makeup and here in Colorado, it’s crucial! Because it’s so dry us girls will start “aging” almost 10 years earlier! I say, if you’re going to start with makeup, find yourself a solid skin care routine first 🙂

  4. I love Aveeno”s face moisturizer. It’s not too heavy or oily and it smells great! Other than that I just do chapstick too. If I’m trying to get rolled up I *might* put on some mascara.

  5. Good ol’ Burt’s Bees lip balm does the trick for me – I definitely agree that less is more!

  6. Hey Lauren,
Great post! Ever since my mid-20s, I’ve been increasingly more concerned with my skincare. That’s when I first started noticing the fine lines around my mouth and on my forehead. I’ve also never had perfectly, clear skin. Even on a good day, I always have tiny blemishes. Now that I’m 29, and those fine lines are starting to become full-blown wrinkles, it’s safe to say that I am obsessed with trying to take care of my skin. For Christmas/birthday my mom purchased the Miracle Worker gift set from Philosophy. I’ve noticed a drastic change in the clarity of my skin, and the lines on my face are substantially less noticeable. And you know that natural, healthy glow you start to lose in your early 20s?…I think I’m starting to get it back! 🙂 I don’t know what I’m going to do when this stuff runs out! I hesitate to look at the RMS site because I’m pretty sure I will want their products. I definitely like the idea of putting natural products on my skin!

  7. Hmmmm, one of my favorite beautifying products is covergirl eyeliner. I like that it has a little smudger on the opposite end of the pencil so you can get a smoky look.

    Happy Saturday friendy friend!

  8. I’m obsessed with MAC mineralize skinfinish and have to put it all over my face every single day…and I HAVE to line my eyes, otherwise I feel naked:) My favorite eyeliner is Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on eye pencil in zero.

I’d recommend these products to anyone!

    Tamuna 🙂

  9. oooh! this looks nice! i usually do a full face of make-up every day (mostly because i don’t have the prettiest skin) but I have been lessening up lately and just using some bronzer on my cheekbones… very flattering and a lot more natural!

  10. I love lush and aveeno products. I wish I could actually find some make-up that was natural and inexpensive. I will check out rms. P.S. Next friday, I want to participate in fill in the blank. Seems like a hoot.

  11. i am a late bloomer on beauty products as well…but im not getting any younger so i gotta start moisturizing and buying products that I DESERVE!
i will not go cheap when it comes to products anymore:)

mascara and chapstick! the best for looking fresh!

  12. I switch it up depending on what I’m doing/my mood/etc. I am somewhat of a beauty junkie though! (a mixture of high-end & drugstore). I’ll have to check out this stuff! Thanks for sharing! xoxo

  13. thanks for sharing.. never heard of them! but i have been searching high and low for new beauty products… haven’t bought anything in YEARS! gasp!

  14. ahhh ive been wanting illuminator SOOOO bad but havent known what to buy! im soooo happy woooweeee!

  15. I used to be like you where clothing trumped beauty products. However, in the last 3 years my mentally has changed a bit about it.

Some of my favorite products are a combo of expensive and inexpensive items, but if I had a choice they would all be somewhat inexpensive. Here are ones I can’t live without:

    Tarte cheek stain
Jason Vitamin E cream (I use as facial moisturizer)
    Bliss Everyday face wash
    Clinique’s Rich eye cream
    Bumble and Bumble shampoo/conditioner
    Pond’s face wipes

  16. I’m kind of the same, not too into beauty products either. I’m completely out of powder, but I’m too lazy to go to Target to buy more so I’m just not wearing any. Yes, I buy all of my make-up at Target.
I think there is a small part of me that wishes I had fun make-up and knew how to use it, but that part of me only comes out on special occasions.

  17. Thanks for sharing! I only own chapstick and lotion but this sort of makeup might be up my alley. It seems simple and not over-the-top.

  18. My brother in law works for MAC, so I now own a crap load of makeup..that I use maybe once a month? A little mascara and I’m good to go. I use drug store lotions for my face, but I’ve been wanting to get some better stuff for my face to make it more healthy since it’s been struggling lately. And burts bees? The best!
