Gift Guide for Her (and By “Her” I Really Mean “Me”)

I spend a lot of time looking at cute things for kids, but the other day I got to looking at lovely grown-up things whilst perusing Pinterest (as one does) and was inspired to create a little gift guide for all the ladies out there…you know…and sort of for myself, because I’m a lady and I like pretty things too!

A few of the items on this list are ones that I have/love myself and a great many of them are made ethically, sustainably, in the U.S., and/or by small businesses. A few of them also give back to various organizations with each purchase. I’m making an effort to be more intentional in the things that I buy and while I’m not always going to do it perfectly, it’s gotta start somewhere, right?

Anyway, here are some lovelies that might make the mothers/daughters/sisters/aunts/besties on your shopping list swoon…

Gift Guide for Her // via The Little Things We Do

1. For the Love” by Jen Hatmaker

You guys. I am totally not a reader and this book is SO good. Jen is encouraging and heart warming and absolutely hilarious all at the very same time. The chapters are short which means they’re perfect for the easily distracted mama reader, but also great for any woman. Jen just gets me.

2. Lord of Misrule Body Wash from Lush

This stuff smells like hippie Christmas. Which now that I write it actually sounds totally weird and unappealing, but trust me, it’s great. Earthy and forest-y with a hint of patchouli. The scent lingers which is really nice for people like me who want to smell nice, but almost never remember to put on pretty smelling lotion or perfume. Also, all of the products at Lush are made ethically with consideration to people and animals and are made from natural ingredients without extra junk!

3. Portland Watch from Shore Projects

These watches are super cool, because they’re customizable. This particular combo of the Portland face with it’s lovely gold trim paired with a utilitarian grey band suits me quite nicely, but there are a ton of other options too, so you can make a watch as unique as the person receiving the gift!

4. Tirhas Saddlebag from FashionABLE

I’m not typically a “bag girl”, but this one is lovely and timeless. Equally well-suited for a lover of bohemian style and one with more preppy sensibilities. I also love that this company helps to empower women by creating work for them and by paying them fair wages and making sure that the products are ethically made.

5. Mini Pennant by Three Potato Four

A happy little reminder that today is what you make it. Made in the U.S.

6. OneHope Sparkling Wine

Yes, it’s true…I judge my wine by it’s bottle. I am no sommelier, but I mean, sparkling wine in a glittery bottle! What more could one ask for? Well, each bottle of this wine provides 15 meals to children in need. It just gets better.

7. Letterfolk Letter Board

I have one of these and I’m already totally obsessed. These boards are such a fun way to make a statement with your home decor. You can leave silly notes for the ones you love, celebrate changing seasons, spell out your weekly meal plan, or stick some words of encouragement on display. This was #1 on my wish list this year for sure and it has not disappointed.

8. Thrill Murray Coloring Book

Because, sometimes a girl just needs to relax and do some grownup coloring. I haven’t yet jumped on the adult coloring book train, because honestly, coloring those intricate patterns seems more stressful than relaxing to me, but this coloring book is far more simple and it features Bill Murray in various artistic renditions from some of his most-loved movies. I think I could jump on the adult coloring train for Bill.

9. Prismacolor Colored Pencil Set

If you give a girl a coloring book, she’s going to need some colored pencils to go with it.

10. Santa Fe Ring from FashionABLE

I love me a good ring and this one is just the perfect turquoise that I’ve been on the hunt for

11. Nomad Silicone + Wood Necklace from Mama Gems

I have a couple of necklaces from Mama Gems already and I really love them. They’re technically “teething necklaces”, but they’re stylish enough for anyone with or without babies. Also, the mama who creates them – Michaela Evanow – is the most beautiful gem of a woman with such a beautiful heart.

What’s on your wish list this year?

Comments

  1. Oh! #1 is on my list. I’ve heard so many great things about it.

  2. I would definitely buy that wine just for the bottle!

  3. Maggie Cole says:

Love all of this and especially love that you’re spreading the word for Mama Gems! <3
