Memory Preservation for the Slacker Mom

If you were to come to my house, you would probably be surprised to see that there is little to no artwork on our walls. It’s not because I have anything against art, because I think it’s lovely. And it’s not because I don’t have any photos to frame, because Lord knows I take plenty (like SOOOO many photos that I’m pretty sure my babies thought my face looked like the back of my iPhone case during their early weeks of life). The truth is…I’m just kind of a slacker.

The idea of framing things overwhelms me for some reason. Actually getting those photos from my phone printed and then finding the appropriate sized frames for them and then actually hanging said photos/art on the walls. It’s just too many steps. So instead we have blank, white walls and friends who always comment on my “minimalism” which I’m pretty sure is code for “your house is sad and you need to get something up on those freaking walls, STAT!”

Thankfully I discovered Framebridge and it’s basically the best thing ever.

You can order framed prints directly from your computer…or better yet from your phone (because let’s be real…if you’re a parent then 99% of the photos you take of your kids are taken with your phone) using their app. You can choose the photos you want to have framed, choose the size, and then choose your frame from one of their many styles (the Marin frames are my personal favorite). Everything is done for you with the click of a button and it couldn’t be easier.

I chose to frame a smaller size Instagram photo of my kids playing at our favorite vacation spot – a little island beyond Vancouver B.C. – and then also ordered a large custom-sized print of my favorite Fern twirling photo. I love how they came out and I am seriously obsessed with how beautiful and well-made the frames are. They go perfectly with our decor and definitely make it feel more cozy and lived-in.

Framebridge also offers a mail-in option that allows you to frame existing photos and art you may already have. My husband’s grandmother is a water color artist and we had quite a few of her pieces just sitting around gathering dust, despite my best intentions to “get them framed someday“. Clearly someday never came. Framebridge made it super easy though. I just measured the painting I wanted framed and ordered my framed piece based on that. I noted all specifications – what frame I wanted, if it needed a mat and any additional specs. I knew I wanted to be sure that Craig’s grandmother’s signature stayed visible, so I just added a note about it along with my order. Once my order was placed, Framebridge sent out a prepaid mailer so I could send the painting to them and thereafter I received my framed painting. I’m pretty sure I never would’ve actually gotten this painting framed myself (or at least not anytime even remotely soon), so I was definitely most excited about this and my husband was so thrilled to have his beloved Grams’ artwork finally up on the walls. I’m sure she would scoff at the piece we chose, because it was actually just one of her “throwaway pieces”, but I really love it and it’s nice having a little piece of her in our house.

So, basically if you are a slacker mom like me who doesn’t know where to begin when it comes to getting photos/art printed and framed, you’re probably going to think Framebridge is the best thing since sliced bread. You should totally try it.

Bonus…if you’re still on the hunt for a Mother’s Day gift then this is perfect. Some mothers in our lives may or may not be getting some of these very soon. If you’re wanting to get in on this Mother’s Day action then head over to Framebridge and be sure to get your order in before April 22.  Be sure to use the code LITTLETHINGS10 so you can get 10% off your first order!

Happy framing!

  1. I too suffer from unframed photos and art and love companies that simplify things like this. Thank you for the tip!
