Lederhosen macht mich kichere.

So…in case you didn’t read my previous post, Craig and I went to Leavenworth WA with my parents this weekend.

It’s this little Bavarian town that goes all out for Christmas and my parents thought it would be fun to buy us a room as a Christmas gift.  So they did.  And it was great.  (p.s.  I forgot my camera battery, which = all of my pictures being taken with my iphone.  Sorry for any blurriness.)

My title means:  “Lederhosen makes me giggle” in German….or at least that’s what freetranslation.com says.  Hopefully no one who speaks German and is reading this blog will tell me I’ve actually said something obscene.

Anyway, that guy at the top is playing the Alp Horn and wearing lederhosen.  While lederhosen in general does make me giggle, this guy is legit.  He blew the horn every morning at the hotel where we stayed this weekend.  At breakfast he would get up on the ledge of the (icy!) balcony and blow this horn.    He had to be in his 70’s at least.  That’s some serious dedication.  Plus….lederhosen in 17 degree weather isn’t for the faint of heart.  Extra legit points.

So, we stayed at this lovely little place called The Enzian Inn.  It was basically Christmas incarnate.  Like…so Christmasy they sing Christmas carols each night in the lobby complete with hot cider.  This is the two story tree in the front lobby.

Craig + wrinkly shirt + pretty tree.
Here are a couple of pictures around town…including the fudge hut
(that was Craig’s first stop of the trip).
After we settled in we had lunch at this little Latin place
that was super cute inside.
We meandered around the little shops in town….
which weren’t the most exciting (See what I mean?  Creepy, no?)
Craig and my dad played a lot of ping-pong at the hotel
We also went in the hot tub.  Since we didn’t plan for this, we had to buy disposable swimsuits from the front desk.  Not the most flattering, but they might have actually been cute had they not been made of Tyvek.  I did kind of love the blue houndstooth print…and the fact that this was the only time I’d ever get Craig to coordinate his outfit to mine :).

Saturday we went on a sleigh ride.
The grand finale was the Christmas Tree lighting where they light up the whole town.
Leavenworth was a lot of fun, and I’m so thankful to my parents for taking us…otherwise I might never have convinced Craig to take me there.  He had fun, but I think there was a little too much antiquing for his liking.  He said next time we’re taking a “man vacation”.  Not sure what that means, but I’m guessing probably something involving an outdoor sport + red meat + dark beer + sports & video games in our down time.  We’ll see how that pans out…..

Haha, anyway I have to agree with you, if they hadn’t been disposable, the houndstooth would have been cute.
